Vrindavan Parker’s soul-stirring speech on Hindu Samhati's 4 th Anniversary

First I begin with a prayer of gratitude to my Param Gurudev AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad. Born in this auspicious city of Kolkata in the year 1896, Srila Prabhupada was the direct ambassador of those great luminaries of Bengal, Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Nitayananda Prabhu. Prabhupada came to my country, the USA, with only 40 rupees, a box of Bhagavat Puranas and a deep conviction in the message of Love of God. At the ripe old age of 69 years old, Srila Prabhupada boarded a ship, the Jaladhuta here in Kolkata. It was the year 1965 that he embarked upon this journey to America. Seemingly alone, he suffered two heart attacks in route and then after his arrival in the USA he spent a year unaided wandering the cold and dirty streets of New York City.

Armed only with the Holy name of Hari and faith in the instructions of his Gurudeva, yet another stalwart of Bengal Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, Srila Prabhupada tirelessly advocated the glory of Bengal to the entire world. Thus now over 40 years later it is evident that a miracle had indeed taken place. For based upon the efforts of this one saint of Bengal we see that millions of people the world over have adopted Bengal as their cultural homeland. It was my great fortune to personally study under the guidance of Srila Prabhupada and to absorb the great and liberating knowledge and wisdom of your Bengali people, culture and traditions. As a child I studied the great Bengali literature of the Caitanya Caritamrta, the Caitanya Bhagavat and I learnt to sing Bengali songs and to cook Bengali food. It is thus that I stand here in front of you today. I stand here not as a Guru or a leader but I stand here today as your younger brother and as a beggar I express my gratitude to you.

I am not here merely because we share a common foe. It is not that ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ concept that brings me here. No. For I am here standing with you for one reason alone. It is because like all of you, I am a Hindu.

This great land of Bengal is my cultural Motherland and it is to the people of Bengal that I owe my very life. Surely I could live an average American life yet in my view what is life without Samskriti? And what is Samskriti if not life itself? It is this Samskriti that raises humanity above the animal level and it is this Samskriti that allows for us to evolve reaching our true potential as Aryans.

The Swastika banner is a reminder of this ideal and it is a blessed invocation of good fortune for one and all. Our Mother India, this land of Bengal represents this promise of the future, a future that welcomes one and all and allows for the expansion of the human spirit. It is the promise of freedom that demands nothing more than a commitment to life liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness for everyone. It is the conception of true equality that allows for the entire range of human expression.

We see a clear example of this when we look at Islam. There are 72 different schools of thought within the Islamic tradition yet we find that there is only one place in this entire world that allows for such an expression of Islamic diversity. And no that place is not Pakistan nor Bangladesh. It is India and India alone that welcomes one and all. It is India alone that provides the fertile environment for the free development and practice of religion.

Again we find that among the Islamic nations it is only within the Indic nations of Bangladesh and Pakistan that women have risen to the greatest heights of leadership. It is the Hindu ethos that allows for this, thus we find that India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, unlike my great country of America, all have elected women to lead their nations. This female empowerment is based upon a tradition of deep respect and worship of the Divine Mother; a tradition at the very heart of Bengal.

True Hindu civilization has always welcomed the leadership of one and all based upon merit rather than caste or class. For Hinduism is egalitarian and truly liberating. Yet the unfortunate truth is that this very freedom is being turned against your nation and your people. We find a clear example of this phenomenon in those former Hindu lands of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Once these lands were just as much a part of Hindu India as any other yet today we find not a Saint or Hindu movement has arisen from these lands. No great temples have come up and the many ancient Hindu holy sites have been at best forgotten and at worst completely obliterated. No sense of history or pride is cultivated regarding our collective Hindu past.

Meanwhile figures of relatively minor import are highlighted. In other words these once Hindu lands have been sterilized and in fact ethnically cleansed. Genocide as horrid as any other in history has been a frequent occurrence in these lands. And today the same is being visited upon the Hindus of India and within the very land of Bengal itself. In other words despite our Mother India being ripped apart in order to provide a home for Indian Muslims, we find that our Muslim brothers remain dissatisfied. They clamor and maneuver for more Indian territory, wielding great economic and political power and thus the entire Indian legal system has become the latest weapon in their hegemonic arsenal. Thus we find that while Indian Muslims achieved their goal of nationhood Hindus within those lands lost all they had including their lives. Those that live barely survive at the lowest levels of the Islamic socio-political reality. And from my firsthand experience it is obvious that a similar agenda is happening now as we speak here in the very homeland of the Hindus.

I therefore direct this appeal to those millions of Hindus throughout the world, to those Hindus that believe in our eternal traditions and the value of our common culture yet do no more than worship at the temples and donate to their favorite guru. Is it your individual practice of Hinduism alone or the labors of solely your particular creed, sect, group or caste that constitute Hinduism? If you or your pet sect or Guru were to disappear do you think it would be the end of Hinduism? Of course not.

Such thinking is ludicrous for the Hinduism you have and cherish is based upon the functioning of the entire Hindu community. In fact everything you have you owe to the collective Hindu society and to your ancestors that kept the faith through thick and thin regardless of popularity and circumstance. Thus every Hindu on this planet has a debt and an obligation to answer the call. Every Hindu must make a stand for the very survival of Hinduism is at stake. For today our entire Hindu society is being threatened at its very foundation. Our people are being undermined, threatened and denied the basics of life and liberty. And the world is silent. Yet it is my privilege to be here in the presence of you all; thousands of Hindus that have broken that silence.

For those who remain silent I ask what is the use of your worship when your own Hindu brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers and children are being savaged, oppressed and brutalized? Why build more temples when the people who frequent those temples are dying? Why donate billions of rupees to this or that Guru when his disciples are being looted, raped, pillaged and slaughtered? Why open more hospitals when your patients are already dead?

The challenge has been given and it is time to meet that challenge head on. The fact is no amount of protests, prayers or pleas will save the day. And violence and terrorism are not the answer. However we must answer our opponents by fighting them with their own weapons and by emulating their mechanisms of unity and common cause.

What are these weapons? The first and foremost weapon or tool at our disposal is the truth, it is knowledge. In other words the media and the written and spoken word are our greatest asset. The legal system is yet another powerful tool at our disposal as is the democratic process. Yet these cannot be properly accessed without unity of purpose amongst the Hindu community. Thus Unity is the primary requisite for the Hindus of the 21^st century.

Great progress has been made in this arena yet in my opinion we have yet to reach the tipping point required to make effective progress. Our lack of a centralized approach has many advantages yet it also allows for selfishness and pettiness. For as we all know India is a land rife with petty tyrants. As these petty tyrants soak in the glory on the local level, Hindu society is being decimated on the national and international level. Jealousy and fear are the rule of the day as sincere activists are shunned and denied their role in the battle for the hearts and minds of the public. The very basic animal urges that fear the loss of territory, the waning of influence over the masses and control over the female species are just as prevalent in overall Hindu society today as in any other. Thus rather than allow a worthy person the limelight he is blocked and denied his opportunity to serve the people and the Motherland.

At times even well-known sincere Hindu leaders and organizations have also been major obstacles to the cause of Hindu unity. This must stop. It is time to rise above such base thinking and attitudes and give credit where it is due. It is time to allow the message of Hindu solidarity to be heard loud and clear no matter what guise the messenger may be.

The fact is our opposition is only as strong as we are weak. Our disunity is their greatest advantage. Thus today I want to share an important truth with you all. Every one of us is born with weaknesses and strengths. As individuals not one of us is perfect and complete. However rather than a fault this is the design of Providence.

Just as the most powerful man cannot become a father without the help of a mother no individual can answer the call of duty without the support of others. What to speak of the common man, no Avatar, Saint or Acharya has ever accomplished anything without the help and support of others. Every single one of us requires and depends upon the active participation of other people in order to fulfill our roles in society. What we lack as an individual is compensated by the strengths of our fellow men and women. What a community lacks within itself is meant to be balanced out by the strengths of the neighboring community. The differences we find in language, style and the diverse ways of worship and the day to day functioning of our lives are natural reflections of the very nature of the Creation.

Yet today these very differences are turned against us. Thus today prejudice runs deep as Indians of one region belittle the Indians of another. Yes there are indeed many weakness and faults but again I say these weaknesses are an opportunity for us to unite. By combining the strengths of our various communities these faults will be corrected naturally. And as long as we sit back laughing at the failings of our neighbors and priding ourselves on our own community’s superiority we will continue to be the favored target of those forces opposed to the Hindu way.

Again I say our weaknesses are intentionally designed by the Creator in order to force us towards unity. For it is the strong legs of the blind man that can carry the keen eyed man with no legs. It is the words of the learned that are meant to enlighten the ignorant and it is the power of the strong that is meant to protect the weak. The sanctity of the sages is meant not for their personal liberation but rather it is meant to heal and bring relief to the suffering of those of us caught up in the turmoil of desire and the struggle for prosperity and economic viability. And like it or not the wealth of the rich is factually meant to uplift the lives of the poor. It is the failure to maintain this natural balance that has invited the very destruction of Hindu civilization.

In other words while not ignoring the ill intentions and motivations of those working against the Hindus, these opponents are merely reflections of our collective obstinacy and disunity. As long as we continue to belittle and discredit each other based upon our personal weaknesses and various socio-cultural eccentricities Hindus will continue to be looted, pillaged and their plight ignored by the world.

God made us in America strong politically, militarily and optimistic yet most Americans are ignorant of the most basic fundamentals of a cultured life. Yet through the efforts of the great luminaries of Bengal beginning with Vivekananda and Prabhupada America is rapidly becoming the land of Dharma. While Indians allege a love for Mother Cow they flock to the world’s greatest engine of Cow slaughter, McDonalds by the millions. Meanwhile Americans now shun McDonalds by the millions. In fact, in our view there is only one positive use for McDonald’s restaurants and that is the use of its latrines and that only in case of an emergency.

Despite any weaknesses it is the people that have the power to make or break any of these corporations and organizations be they Hindu or otherwise. This is true especially for those arrogant movie stars, business tycoons and political leaders. Who are they without their fans, employees, customers and supporters? Absolutely nothing.

Fueled by the admiration of the anonymous public they pretend it is their own Shakti that empowers them. This is an illusion. It is the common people that make or break them. The people are the real heroes. The people are the very impetus for the entire functioning of any civilization, society, nation or culture. These same people are filled with frailties yet these same people are the actual foundation of life itself. The biggest multimillion dollar Bollywood or Hollywood blockbuster is nothing without the public’s interest. The largest Temple or dynamic Guru is naught without the participation of the people.

I know that these same people have busy lives and many are challenged to respond to injustice but how long must we wait? And how much can we tolerate before we must ask ourselves ‘Are we men or have we become stone?’ For even the animal defends itself when threatened. So are we any less than the animals?

I ask again are we not fathers, mothers, and elders with an obligation to the future generations? So none can say to us that ‘Yes you are right in what you say but all this work, collecting, researching, court battles and ongoing activism is such a bother’. Yet I challenge them by saying that such a view can only be held by those who have never known the torment that is being afflicted upon our fellow Hindus. Or if you do know and do not care than I ask where is your heart?

And then to make matters even worse for those of us who do respond, for those of us that do have a heart and a sense of duty to our fellows we are labeled as radicals. Radicals, fanatics and fundamentalists. Let us look at these terms.

By turning to nature we find a paradox in this. Whenever and wherever a life form, human or otherwise is under threat or some kind of stress, defense is the natural response. Yet in today’s society we find that despite the constant state of threat confronting Hinduism there is a certain lack of response that is out of synch with the natural order. In this so-called secular outlook we find a radically altered socio-political landscape that allows for injustice to thrive. Thus we find that it is these alleged secularists and escapist academics that are the radicals out of step with the natural pulse and rhythm of life itself.

Meanwhile people like yourself, todays Hindu activists of the Hindu Samhati (HS) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), all of you gathered here today and the teeming millions of Swayam Sevaks across this ancient land represent the natural response, the antibodies in the Indian body politic. Rather than radicals you represent the natural response common to any and all life forms, people and societies throughout history.

And what is the exact nature of this response? It is much more than ideologically pleasant sounding phrases and ideas. It is the selfless work and dedication of Bengal’s Indigenous activists that is at the forefront of resolving the personal tragedies and struggles confronting the Hindu people. At times it is land-grabs, other times it is physical assaults, kidnappings and other acts of criminality. In most societies the aggrieved have the mechanism of the court system at their disposal yet here, in this region of the world the ugly truth is that the Hindu people have no avenue of support despite being victimized on multiple occasions and in a multitude of ways.

Now thanks to tireless work of Tapan Ghosh ji and the entire HS these victimized people have access to an organized response to their needs. At times these needs are legal, medical or economic. The workers of the HS and RSS literally give their lives for this cause. They put their lives on the line for the sake of Bengal and for India the Motherland and her time honored indigenous Hindu traditions.

In the face of such dedication it is strange to see those Hindus that go about their lives and maybe give a couple coins now and then. I say to them it must be so easy for you to do this especially when you know that there are Hindus, these alleged radicals, who have, and are and will lay down their very lives for you, for your nation and your civilization.

So you are proud that you can marry your daughter off to a nice Hindu boy and you can go to your favorite temple and Guru and feed some roti to the wandering cow and feel blessed. That’s nice. Yet never forget those Hindus activists that are standing up for you and the future generations of Hindus so that they can marry, worship and feed cows.

You see the HS helps those desperate Bengali people that are grateful to eat plain kichari day in and day out; the very same kichari that you may perhaps choose to eat once a month. Without any wages or material reward of any sort, except the reward that comes from a job well done, is given or expected by the dedicated workers of the HS. They do not do this for themselves; they do this for the sake of the people.

In my travels throughout your blessed land of Bharat I have at times been called a hero. Yet Bengal itself is a land of heroes who have impacted the entire world. Vivekananda, Aurobindo, Tagore, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Saraswati Thakur, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu are some of the greatest heroes of Bengal. Yet what does it really mean to be a hero? The answer is right in front of me. Tapan Ghosh is a hero and you all, the noble workers of the HS are true heroes.

In the past the people were in general the followers and heroes would arise to lead them. Yet today we find a different scenario. Today the people are the heroes now. Thus today I am in the presence of thousands of heroes of Bengal and heroes of India and Hinduism.

Yes the people are the heroes now. In the past the hero held a sword of steel yet the hero of today pulls the peasants plow. The heroes of today are the fathers and mothers and the teachers, the farmers and cowherds and humble sadhus of this sacred land. This is not just a nice concept but it is a reality.

For what does it truly mean to be a hero? The primary requisite for heroism is selflessness, service and dedication to that which is bigger than one’s self. The true hero knows they do not live for themselves alone nor solely for this generation. For it is the duty of the current generation to prepare the way for the next generation. And this is why we fight. This is why we struggle to preserve and enhance that which is noble and beneficial.

This ancient Hindu civilization existed before the rise of the Pyramids of Egypt. Continuous, vibrant and dynamic Hinduism is the gift of our ancestors and its practice fulfills the promise of the ancients and of the Supreme Lord Krishna who is God himself. While the once vibrant Egyptian civilization of the past that built the pyramids is long gone the pyramids remain as mute testimony to the glory of ancient Egyptian high civilization. Yet today this civilization is extinct.

Here in India we find that despite the odds and centuries of assaults against Bengal and India, the dedication and commitment of the Hindu people remains steadfast. Yet as we all know there are those that wish us ill. There are those who attempt to isolate the art, beauty and grace of Hinduism and relocate it to the museum. They desire to profit upon its appeal as nothing more than a tourist attraction.

Perhaps that day will come when people will look back at Hindu India with wonder, cherishing its beauty yet ignorant of the vibrant pulse that gives meaning to that very beauty they so admire. Perhaps one day none will remember the heroes of Bengal like Vivekananda, Aurobindo, Tagore, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu. Perhaps one day none will worship at the Hindu sacred sites nor seek the blessings of Mother Ganges but I know that today is not that day.

Nor will that day come any time in the foreseeable future. Today, far from giving up, today we fight for a better tomorrow. We neither fight not just for ourselves alone or for Bengal alone nor even for the sake of just India. We are fighting on behalf of the good people of this entire world.

Today when I look at you all, dedicated workers, patriots and selfless servants of the Motherland, it is clear that the Spirit of Bengal has once again been awakened. This awakened spirit or Caitanya is eternal and unyielding for it is based upon love. It is love and gratitude that is at the foundation of our efforts. Love is the impetus of our entire struggle.

Since today is Saint Valentine’s Day I would be amiss not to touch upon the subject. Many Hindus and Muslims see Valentine’s Day as a western corruption yet its foundation and original relevance is pure love. No not the temporary love of this world but the love of a Christian Saint named Valentine for the Lord God himself. In other words Saint Valentine’s Day was originally a day meant for Bhakti (devotion) and Love for God. Of all people and of all traditions none know if this sacred love more than the Bengali Hindus.

In an ironic twist of history it is the Hindus of today that can fulfill the true meaning of the Christian holy day of Saint Valentine’s Day. It is this love that has carried Bengal through the turmoil of Islamic hegemony, British brutality and the atrophying impact of partition.

All are familiar with the massacres and holocausts that took place in other parts of the world. Not a day goes by in the West without the name and tragedy of Adolf Hitler being foisted upon the consciousness of the public. It is as if the physical and cultural genocide of the American Red Indians never happened. As the modern Western nations prosper atop the repeated genocides of the native peoples they soothe their guilt by highlighting the Germany of Adolf Hitler. The intentional and repeated famines that the British visited upon the Irish and the Bengalis are ignored.

You may or may not be aware that a mere 70 years ago nearly 3 million Bengalis were intentionally starved to death by the instructions of the British PM Winston Churchill. This was done in order to deny that Bengali hero Netaji his promised uprising. This uprising was to be a major aspect of Netaji’s efforts to free India from the British yoke. However after the ‘quiet holocaust’ of nearly 3 million Bengalis there were very few people left to farm the soil what to speak of to rise up in a war of liberation.

The truth is even darker when we take into account that under the British tyranny a famine took place within India every 20 years. Yet we find that since independence India has not seen even one famine. However a new form of genocide is currently raging across India and in Bengal in particular. And the HS is a direct response to this ongoing assault.

Many a Hindu takes pride in the heroes of the past and in the overall history of India. Yet when your children go to school they are taught that our Hindu past is a myth. This word myth says it all when we remember that it is rooted in the Sanskrit word Mithya or Lie. Thus at home we worship and find pride in our scriptures and histories like the Mahabharata as our children learn to scorn our faith and traditions. So yes we have a lot to be proud in regards to our Hindu past but none can deny that today there is much to be ashamed of.

As I travel through this beautiful land I have met many Hindus who live in desperate poverty. Rather than decreasing their numbers are increasing by the hundreds, by the thousands and by the millions. No doubt what we see and hear is only the tip of the iceberg, a mere small sample of a much larger picture. Beyond individuals alone I am speaking of entire families, communities and regions that have been brought to the depths of despair.

The Hindu people have for centuries, remained strong yet like anything in nature, things tend to atrophy. Even gold loses its luster through the passage of time and neglect. Yet regardless of its sullied condition gold remains pure and clean. The same is true of Bengal’s people and its indigenous Hindu culture. Thus regardless of the traumas and tragedies of a cruel history, despite desperate poverty and neglect the resilience of the Bengal spirit, reflective of that most famous icon of Bengal the Bengali Tiger, that spirit continues to shine undimmed. Thus today I am honored to be here with you all. You are a testament to this very spirit of Bengal that found voice in the words Surrendranath Bannerjee, Swami Vivekananda, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sri Aurobindo, Rabindranath Tagore and Srila Prabhupada.

I know many of you are poor yet none can deny that you are truly rich in spirit. And that is what counts for it is the spirit that is eternal. And what is the nature of that Spirit? It is compassion. It is the understanding that whether rich or poor it is our duty to help the helpless. Though we may be poor we do not beg from the UN or our respective governments. However we do demand and command the political leaders of this world to step up and provide justice and security or to step back. Better yet if they will not perform their duty to protect the people we urge them to step down. Make room for the true heroes of this world who will guarantee the basic rights of life, liberty and freedom to one and all regardless of caste, class or creed.

Some may ask why bother to help others for it is their destiny to suffer. This concept, my friends is pure poison and reflective of a broken heart and mind. People suffer in order to remind us to relieve them of their suffering. That beggar you shun represents a great opportunity. She or he represents a chance for us to show our true quality.

Of course we could never help each and every beggar currently flooding the streets of America but the ideal remains. However the impetus to create a society that feeds and clothes one and all is within reach but it is only the political will that is lacking.

So indeed why do we help others? Well there are several reasons no doubt yet one reason stands out. No matter how desperate or tragic our personal lives may be there can be no doubt that there is always someone else suffering much more than ourselves. The traumas and fears and tears of our sons and daughters may break our heart but they will never break our resolve to answer the call to serve our people and our Motherland. HS was founded upon this principle.

The HS itself was founded upon this day not so long ago with few people and very little resources. Yet here we see thousands have answered the call of service. HS was founded with the express goal of selfless service in response to the vital and urgent needs of the Bengali Hindus. Tapan Ghoshji and the many dedicated workers of the HS continue tirelessly year after year. Why?

For the simple reason that the common people of Bengal had no avenue of support and no one to turn to. Surely if the correct response to the vital and urgent needs of the Bengali Hindus had been developed and provided there would be no need for such an extraneous effort by the private citizens of this Nation. Nature abhors a vacuum and thus the empty space in the hearts of this nation has been filled with the dedication of the workers of the HS and RSS. The very numbers of people present here reflects the on-the-ground reality and is direct proof of the need for such an effort.

The call to make a stand and represent our commitment to the traditions of our ancestors has been answered by countless millions across this ancient and sacred land of Bharat. The message of Dharmic Patriotism clearly resonates among you. This patriotism, rather than base egoism and elitism, is founded upon a common love and a shared Hindu legacy. So regardless of those labels of hate and fanaticism it is love that motivates us. It is a love that welcomes one and all yet it is this very love that is being undermined. Thus our love must run on a parallel track that requires us to fight for the very basic human rights of equality, security and economic viability.

As long as the Hindus of Bengal are denied these basic rights, as long the Hindus of India remain as 3^nd class citizens within their own land her people will rise up to the occasion. People of Bengal, Hindus of the world say it loud and clear. We will toil through every obstacle and meet every challenge until we achieve our goal as we march forward towards the upliftment and the betterment of our people. Our goal is indeed a noble one.

O Mother India, your children are awake and will never tire, therefore wipe the tears from your eyes. For a new age has dawned and behold the actual resurrection of high Hindu Civilization is at hand.

कोलकाता - अनेक अडथळ्यानंतर आणि तृणमूल काँग्रेस पक्षाच्या शासनाने केलेल्या प्रखर विरोधानंतर ‘हिंदु संघती’ या बंगालमधील प्रखर हिंदुत्ववादी संघटनेने आयोजित केलेली सभा आज धर्माभिमानी वंगबंधूंच्या प्रखर धर्मनिर्धारामुळ मोठ्या उत्साहात पार पडली. ‘हिंदु संघतीr’ या संघटनेच्या ४ थ्या वर्धापनदिनाच्या निमित्ताने ही सभा आयोजित करण्यात आली होती. १२ सहस्रांहून अधिक वंगबंधू या सभेसाठी बंगालच्या खेड्यापाड्यांतून आले होते.

या वेळी स्वामी प्रदीप्तानंदजी, स्वामी तेजसनंदजी, आचार्य योगेश शास्त्री, मायकल उपाख्य वृंदावन पारकर, डॉ. गौतम सेन, डॉ. निलमाधव दास, श्री. तपन घोष, श्री. रमेश शिंदे आणि श्री. अभय वर्तक आदी मान्यवर व्यासपिठावर उपस्थित होते. हिंदुद्वेष्ट्या तृणमूल काँग्रेसच्या प्रखर विरोधामुळे पोलिसांनी सभा घेण्यास अनुमती नाकारली होती, तसेच ‘हिंदु संघती’च्या कार्यकर्त्यांनाही अटक करण्याचे सत्र चालू केले होते. त्यामुळे सभा होईल कि नाही, याविषयी संभ्रम होता; मात्र ‘हिंदु संघती’च्या कार्यकर्त्यांनी उच्च न्यायालयात जाऊन सभेची अनुमती मिळवून दुपारी दीड वाजता चालू होणारी सभा दुपारी ३.४५ वाजता चालू केली. सभा उशिरा चालू झाल्याने सभेत श्री. वृंदावन पारकर, श्री. रमेश शिंदे, श्री. गौतम सेन आणि स्वामी तेजसनंदजी असे पाचजणच बोलू शकले.

या वेळी श्री. तपन घोष यांना हिंदु जनजागृती समितीच्या वतीने छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांची प्रतिमा, तसेच सनातन संस्थेच्या वतीने सनातननिर्मित २८.९ टक्के कृष्णतत्त्व असलेली श्रीकृष्णार्जुनाची प्रतिमा भेट देण्यात आली.

आपल्यातील हिंदुत्व जागवण्यासाठी सत्याच्या मार्गावरून जायला हवे ! - वृंदावन पार्कर, अमेरिका

अमेरिका येथील श्री. ब्रेयन पार्कर (आता ते हिंदु धर्मानुसार साधना करत असल्याने त्यांचे सध्याचे नाव श्री. वृंदावन पारकर असे आहे.) म्हणाले, ‘‘७२ मुसलमान संघटना असलेला हिंदुस्थान हा एकमेव देश आहे. विश्वातील सर्व मुसलमान देशांमध्ये महिलांना तुच्छ लेखले जाते; परंतु बांगलादेश आणि पाकिस्तानमध्ये महिलांना पंतप्रधानही बनवले गेले होते. हे दोन देश मूलतः हिंदुस्थानाचीच अंगे होती, त्यामुळेच तेथे इतर मुसलमान देशांच्या तुलनेत महिलांना थोडेतरी महत्त्व आहे. यातून भारतीय संस्कृतीचे महत्त्व लक्षात येते. आज नवनवीन रस्ते, इमारती, रुग्णालये बांधली जात आहेत; परंतु जुने रस्ते, इमारती, रुग्णालये आपण सांभाळू शकत नाही, तर नवीन बांधण्याची काय आवश्यकता ? आज आपल्यातील हिंदुत्व जागवण्यासाठी (जतन करण्यासाठी) सत्याच्या मार्गावरून जायला हवे. आपल्यात संघटितपणा निर्माण व्हायला हवा. आपल्या विरोधकांचे (मुसलमानांचे) बळ केवळ संघटितपणातच आहे. आपल्या धर्माचे महत्त्व साधु, संत, ऋषी यांची साधना आणि तपश्चर्या यांमुळेच आहे. सहस्रोंच्या संख्येने हिंदूंनी एकत्र येऊन राष्ट्र आणि धर्म यांच्या रक्षणाचे कार्य करायला हवे. बंगालचे ‘रॉयल बेंगॉल टायगर’ नेताजी सुभाषचंद्र बोस, स्वामी अरविंद यांनी महान इतिहास घडवला आहे. आपण विश्वभरातील सर्व देशांमध्ये हिंदूंच्या या महान संस्कृतीचा प्रसार करू. आम्ही हिंदू सर्वांवर प्रेम करतो; परंतु आमच्याकडूनच सर्वाधिक चुकीचे वर्तन केले जात आहे. ‘हिंदू संघती’ ही संघटना आणि त्यांचे संस्थापक श्री. तपन घोष यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली हिंदूंवर होत असलेल्या अत्याचारांच्या विरोधात सगळे संघटित झाले, हा एक चांगला संकेत आहे.’’

लंडन येथील श्री. गौतम सेन म्हणाले, ‘‘आम्ही विदेशात रहातो; पण विश्वातील सर्व हिंदू एक आहोत.’’

‘हिंदु संघती’ या संघटनेचे संस्थापक श्री. तपन घोष म्हणाले,‘‘ सनातन संस्थेचे प्रवक्ते श्री. अभय वर्तक अन् हिंदु जनजागृती समितीचे प्रवक्ते श्री. रमेश शिंदे महाराष्ट्रातून, तरुण हिंदू या संघटनेचे संस्थापक डॉ. नीलमाधव दास धनबाद, झारखंड येथून, श्री. गौतम सेन लंडन येथून, तर श्री. वृंदावन पारकर हे अमेरिकेतून या सभेसाठी आले आहेत. या सर्वांप्रती मी ‘हिंदु संघती’च्या वतीने विशेष कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करतो. आज देशभरात मुसलमान अत्याचार करत आहेत. प्रसारमाध्यमांच्या चुकीच्या धोरणांमुळे समाजातील सर्वसाधारण मनुष्यापर्यंत सत्य पोहोचतच नाही. हिंदूंची सद्यस्थिती सर्वसाधारण मनुष्यापर्यंत पोहोचण्यासाठी आज गावागावांतून सर्वसामान्य हिंदू या सभेत उपस्थित राहिले आहेत. पृथ्वीला हिंदूंवर होणार्‍या अन्याय कळावेत, यासाठी हा मंच एक माध्यम आहे. आज शासन आणि पोलीस यांच्या अत्याचारांमुळे जी स्थिती निर्माण झाली आहे, त्यासाठी उरलेल्या वक्त्यांना बोलण्याची संधी मिळाली नाही, यासाठी मी सर्वांची क्षमा मागतो.’’

हिंदु राष्ट्राच्या स्थापनेसाठी संघटित व्हायला हवे ! - रमेश शिंदे, प्रवक्ते, हिंदु जनजागृती समिती

हिंदु जनजागृती समितीचे प्रवक्ते श्री. रमेश शिंदे म्हणाले, ‘‘हिंदुस्थानातील आपण सर्व हिंदू एक आहोत. सगळ्यांना हे कळावे, यासाठी मी महाराष्ट्रातून बंगालमध्ये आलो आहे. ज्यांना या देशात रहायचे आहे, त्यांना ‘वन्दे मातरम्’ म्हणावेच लागेल. ज्यांना या भूमीला वंदन करायचे नसेल, ते खुशाल पाकिस्तानात जाऊ शकतात. मुसलमानांना ‘भाई भाई’ म्हणायचे असेल, तर त्यांनीही गोमातेला आणि भारतमातेला ‘माता’ म्हटलेच पाहिजे, नाहीतर ते ‘भाई’ नाहीत, तर ‘कसाई’ आहेत, असेच आम्हाला समजावे लागेल. स्वामी विवेकानंद जेव्हा अमेरिकेत गेले होते, तेव्हा एक अमेरिकन व्यक्तीने त्यांना विचारले, ‘‘हिंदू धर्म आणि इतर धर्म यांमधील भेद तुम्ही एका वाक्यात सांगू शकता का ?’’ त्यावर स्वामीजी म्हणाले, ‘‘हिंदू धर्मात आपली धर्मपत्नी सोडून इतर सर्व स्त्रियांना माता मानले जाते; परंतु इतर धर्मात आपली माता सोडून इतर सर्व स्त्रियांना पत्नीसारखे मानले जाते. हे आमच्या धर्माचे महत्त्व आहे. पाकिस्तानमध्ये ८ टक्के हिंदू होते, ते आता १ टक्का झाले. बांगलादेशमध्ये ३० टक्के हिंदू होते, ते ८ टक्के झाले. भारतात १०० टक्के हिंदू होते, ते ७० टक्के झाले. कायद्यानुसार बंदी असूनही काल रात्री येथे मशिदीसमोर रात्री १० ते १२ या वेळेत सभा झाली. जर तिथे सभा होऊ शकते, इथे होऊ शकत नाही का ? यासाठीच हिंदूंना एकत्र यायला हवे. भारतातील सर्व हिंदूंनी हिंदु राष्ट्राच्या स्थापनेसाठी संघटित व्हायला हवे, धर्मशिक्षण घेऊन हिंदु राष्ट्र बनवायला हवे !’’

कार्यक्रमाच्या प्रारंभी सभेला संबोधित करतांना धनबाद, झारखंड येथील तरुण हिंदू या संघटनेचे संस्थापक डॉ. नीलमाधव दास म्हणाले, ‘‘आज हिंदूंच्या संघटनाची आवश्यकता आहे.’’ हिंदूंची सद्यस्थिती त्यांनी या वेळी सर्वांसमोर मांडली.

प्रसारमाध्यमांचा पुन्हा एकदा दिसून आलेला प्रखर हिंदुद्वेष !

बंगालमध्ये तृणमूल काँग्रेसचे शासन, स्थानिक प्रशासन आणि पोलीस यांनी हिंदु संघतीच्या सभेला तीव्र विरोध केला. सभा होईल कि नाही, या विषयी दुपारी तीनपर्यंत संभ्रम होता. अशा स्थितीत दुपारी ३.४५ वाजता सभा चालू होऊनही सभेला १२ सहस्र धर्माभिमानी उपस्थित होते. एरव्ही हिंदुविरोधकांच्या नगण्य उपस्थितांच्या सभेची ‘ब्रेकिंग न्यूज’ देणार्‍या सर्व वृत्तवाहिन्यांनी या महत्त्वाच्या वृत्ताकडे दुर्लक्ष केले. हाच मुसलमानांचा शंभर माणसांचा कार्यक्रम असता, तर त्याचे वृत्त सर्वांनीच दाखवले असते.

‘सुदर्शन’ वाहिनीने जपले हिंदुत्व !

हिंदु संघतीच्या कार्यक्रमाचे थेट प्रक्षेपण ‘सुदर्शन’ या हिंदुत्ववादी वृत्तवाहिनीने दाखवले. एक हिंदुत्ववादी संघटना म्हणून हिंदु जनजागृती समिती आणि प्रखर हिंदुत्व जोपासणारी सनातन संस्था यांच्या प्रवक्त्यांनी ‘सुदर्शन’ वाहिनीचे आभार मानून अभिनंदन केले आहे.

क्षणचित्रे

१. सभेला १२ सहस्र लोकांची उपस्थिती होती. पोलिसांच्या भयामुळे आणि सभा होईल कि नाही, या विचारामुळे बरेच लोक सभेतून परत गेले.

२. ३०० हून अधिक महिला आणि पुरुष पोलीस या सभेत आले होते.

३. सभेची वेळ दुपारी २ ची होती; परंतु दुपारी १२.३० वाजेपर्यंत सभास्थानाचे फाटक पोलिसांनी उघडू दिले नाही.

४. सभेतील कार्यकर्त्यांनी केवळ १ घंट्यात सभेची सिद्धता केली.

५. रमेश शिंदे यांचे भाषण चालू असतांना ‘जय शिवाजी, जय भवानी !’ अशा घोषणा बंगाली बांधवांनी दिल्या.

६. अमेरिकेतील एक हिंदु वक्ते श्री. वृंदावन पारकर यांनी इंग्रजीत भाषण केले. त्यांच्या भाषणाचे हिंदु संघतीचे संस्थापक श्री. तपन घोष यांनी बंगालीमध्ये भाषांतर करून सांगितले. त्यांनी हिंदीमध्ये ‘भारत माता की जय’ अशी घोषणा दिल्यावर लोकांनी त्यांना उत्स्फूर्त प्रतिसाद दिला.

हिंदु संघतीच्या सभेच्या संदर्भातील घटनाक्रम म्हणजे बंगालचे वेगाने इस्लामीकरण होत असल्याचे द्योतक !

* १४ जानेवारी या दिवशी हिंदु संघतीने पोलिसांकडे सभेच्या अनुमतीसाठी अर्ज केला.

* ३० जानेवारी या दिवशी सभेला पोलीसदल आणि कोलकाता महानगरपालिका यांच्याकडून अनुमती मिळाली.

* ‘कोलकाता बूक फेअर’मध्ये कार्यक्रमाच्या निमंत्रणाची पत्रके वाटण्यात आली. त्यात मुसलमान आरक्षणाच्या विरोधाचे सूत्र होते. या सूत्रावरून सभेला होणारा विरोध वाढत गेला.

* ८ फेब्रुवारी या दिवशी अचानक सभेची अनुमती महापालिकेकडून रहित करण्यात आली. त्यासाठीचे कारण सुस्पष्ट करण्यात आले नाही. ‘‘याचे कारण आम्ही सांगू शकत नाही’’, असे सांगण्यात आले. सभेला विरोध करण्यामध्ये स्थानिक मुसलमान पुढारी आणि खासदार आघाडीवर होते. त्यांच्या दबावामुळेच पोलिसांनी अनुमती नाकारली होती.

* पोलिसांनी अनुमती नाकारल्यानंतर एका ८२ वर्षांच्या हिंदुत्ववादी कार्यकर्त्याला अटक करण्यात आली.

* नंतर आणखी २ कार्यकर्त्यांना अटक करण्यात आली.

* ‘कार्यकर्त्यांना अटक करण्यात आली आणि पोलिसांनी अनुमती नाकारली, तरीही आम्ही सभा घेऊच !’, असे हिंदु संघतीचे श्री. तपन घोष यांनी घोषित केले.

* पोलिसांनी तोंडीच सांगितले की ‘‘कार्यक्रम घेऊ शकत नाही.’’

* ८ फेब्रुवारी या दिवशी अधिकृतरित्या ‘शासनाचा कार्यक्रम आहे म्हणून कार्यक्रम घेऊ शकत नाही’, असे कारण सांगून पोलिसांनी लिखित पत्र देऊन अनुमती नाकारली. (खोटारडे पोलीस ! - संपादक)

* १० फेब्रुवारी या दिवशी हिंदुत्ववाद्यांनी उच्च न्यायालयात अर्ज केला.

* १३ फेब्रुवारी या दिवशी निकाल ‘हिंदु संघतीr’च्या बाजूने लागला.

* १३ फेब्रुवारी या दिवशी संध्याकाळी पोलिसांनी मैदानाच्या दरवाजाला टाळे ठोकले. ज्या मैदानावर सभा होणार होती, त्या मैदानाला एवढ्या वर्षांत प्रथमच टाळे ठोकण्यात आले. (यातून पोलीस आणि राज्यकर्ते यांचा हिंदुद्वेष किती प्रखर आहे, हेच स्पष्ट होते. - संपादक)

* १४ फेब्रुवारी या दिवशी दुपारी २.१० वाजता पोलिसांनी ‘भारतमाता की जय’ असा जयघोष करणार्‍या राष्ट्राभिमानी हिंदूंवर लाठीमार केला. (काँग्रेस, तृणमूल काँग्रेस आणि साम्यवादी पक्ष यांसह सर्वच राजकीय पक्षांनी मुसलमानांचे लांगूलचालन करण्यासाठी ‘भारतमाता की जय’ आणि ‘वंदे मातरम्’ म्हणण्यावर अघोषित बंदी घातली होती. आता त्यांनी उघडपणे बंदी घालून भारताचे वेगाने इस्लामीकरण करून शरियत कायदा भारतात लागू करण्याचेच संकेत दिले आहेत. हिंदूंनो, आता तरी जागे व्हा आणि संघटित होऊन हिंदु राष्ट्राच्या स्थापनेसाठी सिद्ध व्हा ! - संपादक )

सभेला झालेला समाजकंटकांचा आणि मुसलमाधार्जिण्या पोलिसांचा विरोध

* येथील बांधकाम चालू असलेले व्यासपीठ अज्ञातांनी येऊन तोडून टाकले.

* येथे सजावट आणि तांत्रिक, ध्वनीक्षेपक यंत्रणा बसवणार्‍या कर्मचार्‍यांना धमक्या देण्यात आल्या. त्यांचे काम थांबवण्यात आले ‘‘येथील कार्यक्रम रहित झाला आहे, तुम्ही जा, नाहीतर तुम्ही पकडले जाल’’, असे त्यांना पोलिसांनी सांगितले. (यातून बंगालमधील पोलीस मुसलमानांचे गुलामच बनले आहेत, हेच स्पष्ट होते आहे. असे पोलीस जनतेचे आणि राष्ट्राचे रक्षण काय करणार ? ही स्थिती पालटण्यासाठी हिंदु राष्ट्राच्या स्थापनेला पर्याय नाही ! - संपादक)

* संपूर्ण मैदानाला पोलीस छावणीचे स्वरूप आले होते.

* सर्वांत कहर म्हणजे जसजसे हिंदु सभास्थानी यायला लागले , तसतसा पोलिसांनी जाणीवपूर्वक मधून मधून लाठीमार चालू केला. (हिंदूंवर लाठ्या चालवणार्‍या या पोलिसांनी मुसलमानांवर अशा लाठ्या चालवल्या असत्या का ? - संपादक)

* काही ठिकाणी सभास्थानी येणार्‍या धर्माभिमान्यांना पोलिसांनी मार्गातच अडवले होते.

हे धर्माभिमानी हिंदूच हिंदु राष्ट्राच्या यज्ञासाठी त्यांची आहुती देण्यासाठी सिद्ध होतील !

* पहाटे तीन वाजल्यापासून मुले आणि महिला या कार्यक्रमासाठी घरातून बाहेर पडल्या होत्या. त्यांना कार्यक्रमस्थळी जाण्यापासून रोखण्यात आले आणि त्यांना त्रास देण्यात आला.

* सभेला शासनाकडून मोठ्या प्रमाणात विरोध होऊनही हिंदु धर्माभिमान्यांमध्ये खूप उत्साह होता. पोलीस लाठीमार करत असूनही हिंदूंच्या चेहर्‍यावर भीतीचा लवलेशही नव्हता. सभेपूर्वी एवढा गोंधळ होऊनही सर्व हिंदु अतिशय उत्साहात होते.

* ‘हे सर्व पाहून धर्मावर प्रेम कसे असावे, ते लक्षात आले. हिंदूंमध्ये धर्माभिमान कसा असावा, ते शिकायला मिळाले’, असे स्थानिकांनी सांगितले.

Is Bangladesh moving towards a new ethnic cleansing of Hindus?

A spate of Islamic onslaughts is being perceived in Bangladesh, though republic and democratic thus far and devoid of any saga of secularism, on Hindus these days. Even if religious persecutions on Hindus is nothing new in Bangladesh (erstwhile East Pakistan), torturing, at this time, has a new phenomenon – deadly attacks are taking place at different parts of the country simultaneously leaving the governance, assumed to be the one and only defender of secularism by the persecuted Hindus, remain confounded. And this situation is being exploited by the Islamic hardliners with great success making many Hindus apprehend the emergence of a pogrom before long.

The wave of attacks by Islamists was first witnessed in the end of January through mounting thefts in Hindu temples and beatings of Hindus without any cause. On January 27, 2012, Islamist radicals, masked and having deadly weapons to defeat any counteroffensive, assaulted holy deity of Devi Saraswati, at Moshang Secondary School, desecrated and finally destructed it. This incident took place at Moshang Secondary School premises within Uzirpur Upazila of Barisal district. The response of Hindus, in this regard, depicts the atrocious reality. Sri Sudhir Ranjan Halder – Head Master of Moshang Secondary High School lodged general diary rather than filing FIR (First Information Report) at Uzirpur police station.

And the demolition of cemented shutter of Sree Sree Burakali Mata Mandir at Nowgaon District on February 08, 2012 established the apprehension of Hindus that something more sinister would happen. Meanwhile, on February 03, 2012, at night, the holy deity of Lord Shiva in a Hindu cremation ground at Shikdarbari of Motbaria Upazila of Perojpur District was demolished. It is to be noted that Hindus were building up the holy deity (of 9 ft. height) for months.

But what has taken place in Hathazari area of Chittagong in Bangladesh is beyond belief; a group of Islamists led by Jamaat-e-Islami activists simply destroyed wantonly a large number of Hindu temples in the area on February 8 and 9. The intensity of the situation compelled the local governance to impose Section 144 of the Bangladesh Penal Code to prohibit any public gathering in the affected area. The temples vandalized include Loknath Sebasram at Nandirhat, Sri Sri Jagadeshwari Ma Temple (also burnt down completely) Jagannath Bigroho Temple at Nandirhat and Kalibari Temple in Sadar Upazila.

Facts that mounting Islamic fundamentalism is becoming the most dreadful impediment to Hindus throughout India and Hindu resurgence happens to be the only option for its own survival are no more secrets; these are getting more extensive and the perfect depiction of this novel genesis was witnessed on January 22, 2011, at the annual function (Vershikotsav) of Tarun Hindu, Hindu rights advocacy group based in Dhanbad, in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Chief Guest to the event was Sri Tapan Ghosh, president, Hindu Samhati while Dr. Nila Madhab Das, president, Tarun Hindu, happened to be the chief organizer. Other speakers apart from Sri Tapan Ghosh included Shyamalanand Mukherjee,(Advocate), Bijay Ghosh(Prant pramukh, Dharma Jagaran Manch, Jharkhand, Sangh Pracharak), Sarat Dudhani (Businessman), Baivab Aple (Sanatan Samstha), Kamlesh ji(VHP, dist. secretary).

An assortment of such speeches (resulting from speakers’ meticulous studies and decades of struggle) was indeed a new and buoyant experience for Hindus who attended the event in large numbers. Without doubt, the great presence of Hindus (having dedicated souls to the cause of Hindutva and thus preserve Hindu interest) there inspired the speakers lots as well. Sri Tapan Ghosh, citing many references and especially of harrowing experiences of Hindus in Bengal, stated that Hindu Dharma is waging a desperate struggle in its own land to create a Hindu State and the time has come for Hindus to dwell on this issue most seriously. Other speakers accentuated an assortment of other subjects.

Tarun Hindu was established in 1998 on the day of Vijaya Dashami at Balipur, District: Dhanbad, in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The one and only aim of the organization is the establishment of a Hindu Rashtra and Hindu Vishwa, and thus to make Hinduism the mainstream religion (or way of life) in both

The cat is out of the bag once more; it has been proved time and again that the Indian government remains religiously incapable to save any individual from the wrath of Islamic fundamentalists and this time, with the cancellation of impending visit of Salman Rushide, worldwide acclaimed author, to India to attend the Jaipur Literature Festival, the Indian state structure comes full circle.

But the time has changed and the same position is reversed. Nevertheless, it’s not the fault of Rushdie at all; he is a person known to have been facing all these ever since the publication of “The Satanic Verses”. It’s a shame for the Indian government that has failed to save the renowned author from the clutch of Islamic fundamentalists.

In accordance with the press statement of Sanjoy K Roy, producer of the mega festival, Salman Rushdie has stated that he had been informed by intelligence sources in Maharashtra and Rajasthan that "paid assassins" from the Mumbai underworld may be on their way to Jaipur to "eliminate" him.

"While I have some doubts about the accuracy of this intelligence, it would be irresponsible of me to come to the Festival in such circumstances; irresponsible to my family, to the festival audience, and to my fellow writers. I will, therefore, not travel to Jaipur as planned," he said as the five-day literary meet kicked off today. "Very sad not to be at Jaipur. I was told Bombay mafia don issued weapons to 2 hitmen to "eliminate" me. Will do video link instead. Damn (sic)," he stated in public.

Is there any need to ascertain the jubilant organizations therefore? The first and foremost, in this case, happens to be Darul Uloom Deoband, imperative Islamic seminary in India, protesting against the visit from the very beginning. Now the man can surely be identified – he is Salman Rushdie, the man who became focal point of violent protests, death threats and also a fatwa, calling for his death, by none other than Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the then Supreme Leader of Iran, on February 14, 1989, for his alleged impudent depiction of Mohammed, the Arab Prophet of Islam.

Salman Rushdie is in the news again owing to his budding visit to India to attend a literature festival later this month in Jaipur and vociferous protests of Muslims demanding forbiddance against his impending visit. It has been learnt that accomplished authors like Lionel Shriver and Richard Dawkins will also grace the occasion.

Can Muslim Women in India live as true humans ever?

“I do live in my maternal uncle’s abode with my three children and in utmost poverty. My husband has divorced (talaq) me and has married once more,” such were the words (backed by anguishes) of Tagara Khatun, a Muslim woman of 28 years, hailing from Murshidabad (Muslim-dominated district in Bengal), who burst into tears on December 11, 2010 in packed Darbhanga Hall of University of Calcutta – all these took place in the seminar “Rights of Indian Muslim Women” organized under the auspices of Forum for Empowerment of Women in India. However, Tagara was not alone here; several others like her including Nazira Bibi, Sarbhanu Khatun, Sabina Khatun, Rahima Bibi (all divorced in recent times) were also present on the occasion.

The first part of the seminar took place under the aegis of Dr. Afroza Khatun, State Secretary of the Forum. In the introductory speech she said candidly, “Women in Muslim families remain at beck and call of their husbands and hence, they’re divorced at any time. If studies conducted in Murshidabad are taken into consideration only, such cases are in excess of 1 lakh. There is the growing need to change Muslim personal laws in India to save these hapless women.” Other noted speakers on the occasion including Malay Sengupta, Ex-judge, Dr. Alauddin, Dr. Sohrab Hossain, eminent social activists like Keshowar Zahan, Zahed Akhtar, were witnessed to emphasize the absence of equal rights in properties for Muslim women, put an end to reprehensible Hinna marriage and introduce Muslim Adoption Law.

Whether all these would take place is not known yet but the issue refuses to end here. Even if aspirations are strong, chances of success do remain bleak. And such a statement is surely not unfounded. In accordance with pundits, all of Judaism, Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions, thoroughly patriarchal and known worldwide for contempt of their own women. A few Islamic scholars have been waging struggles to portray Mohammed as a supporter of women rights in Islam; but there are also facts (authentic) that he was instrumental to saint women's inequality and inferior status in absolute Quranic law. Muslims all over accept these edicts as the surefire word of God.

"Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because men spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. "...Women shall with justice have rights similar to those exercised against them, although men have a status above women. God is mighty and wise." Sura 2:228.

Some other facts hidden thus far must also be mulled over. As per Shari'a - Islamic law, it is possible for any Muslim man to have four wives at the same instant and what’s more, he can divorce anyone through saying I divorce you" three times. On the contrary, it is highly difficult for any Muslim woman to have divorce. As per the reigning divorce law in the Islamic society, if divorced, fathers get custody of boys over the age of six and girls on the beginning of youth. All these make one realize – if a Muslim woman gets divorce even, it turns out to be a pyrrhic victory for her altogether. She loses her own children.

There are other facts too. As per Shari'a, recompense for the murder of a woman is half the amount of a man. Again, while a woman's witness in court is worth only half of a man's, she is entitled to only half the inheritance of males. On the word of Sura 4:34, men are granted superiority and authority over women since they spend their wealth to keep them up.

These rigid principles do belong to a religion having substantial influence on a large section of global populace. Can this humongous obstacle be broken in India? Can Indian Muslim have cherished freedom ever?

Will PFI’s “School Chalo” campaign turn into a hate campaign?

This is not any stray quotation to call attention to anything that has become prime abruptly but denotes none better than Hindus – proud adherents of Hinduism and known to go on making mistakes at every juncture of history and refuse to rectify or learn from those humongous faults. Hindus have never been malicious against others and will never be but if the past experiences are considered, apprehensions that said measures may give a fillip to Islamic separatism are not unfounded.

PFI, confederacy of several Muslim organizations, has always been in news for all wrong reasons. One of its major constituents National Development Front (NDF), termed also as unusually aggressive and firm believer in Islamic extremism, has proudly asserted to stand by dawa (missionary work) to spread Islam among other communities insistently. Even V S Achuthanandan, Chief Minister of Kerala, accused PFI in 2010 to aim to convert the state to a Muslim majority one in next 20 years.

West Bengal state committee of PFI has launched 8 Sarva Siksha Villages under its multi sector program. The program was formally inaugurated on December 31, 2011 in village Mahaldarpara, containing Muslim population of about 70%, P.S. Raghunathganj, District: Murshidabad, by Mr. OMA Salam, Community Development-in-Charge and Central Committee Member of PFI. A Free Tuition Centre has also been established at Abilpur Village as a part of the social development program. As per the state leadership of PFI, these approaches would play major roles to better the Muslim community in Bengal and as per information, more such initiatives would be adopted in other areas of the state too.

Hindus do welcome approaches to better society and help poor people, "Durjanah sajjano bhooyat sajjanah saantimaapnuyaat | Saanto muchyeta bandhebhyo muktachaanyaan vimochyayet || - "May the wicked become good; may the good obtain peace; May the peaceful be released from bonds; may the freed set the others free!”

But in almost all cases such initiative gets wrong, becomes ideal votary of separatism only leading to emergence of Islamic fundamentalism and a bane for Hindus altogether.

THE POLITICS OF BETRAYAL: THE STRANGE BEHAVIOR OF HINDU TRAITORS

An examination of the history of Islamic invasion, Christian colonialism, and continuous discrimination, and oppression of Hindus in India would lead us to consider the causes of Hindu subjugation.

Hindus must have a clear understanding of the uniformity of past brutal behavior of Islamic invaders, savage treachery of Christian Colonialists and Hindu traitors and collaborators in creating a lunatic asylum for Hindus. Gleaned from examples Hindu of traitors, we can get a clear, correct and comprehensive understanding of present predicament of Hindus. The nature of present destructive behavior of Hindu traitors, anti Hindu stance of pseudo secular and corrupt Hindu political leaders may resemble the past. Looking at more and more evidence of policies and programs against our eternal, sacred Vedic Dharma helps us to adequately explain the uniformity of destructive political behavior of Hindu traitors. It is uniform in the required sense (past and present) and it will indeed give us valid and true conclusions. And our conclusion is solely based on our knowledge of the past and present destructive behavior of Hindu traitors. And the conclusion is valid in the future.

It is no longer possible to ignore the fact that a battle is being waged against our sacred Vedic culture in India. Hindus in India are likely to find themselves increasingly at risk. On this occasion, Hindus must support the eternal Vedic Dharma and the Hindu community not remains silent in the face of improved aggression by Jihadis and missionary mafia, Marxist miscreants, corrupt Hindu politicians and Hindu traitors. It is time for Hindu community to safeguard our Vedic culture and pledge their efforts to weed out our enemy from within, banish Hindu sellout crowds and work towards Hindu unity, peace, freedom and to preserve our sacred Vedic culture, practice our Dharma and promote our eternal values and protect Mother India. Hindu activism and assertiveness is needed to ensure Hindu survival, Vedic spirituality for the benefit of Hindus and the world.

Even after independence from British Christian Colonialists, Hindus in India are relatively powerless, experience prejudice, stereotype, and exploitation. Hindus lack control over their lives, temples, cultural institutions and the media. In many states in India, Hindus compose a majority of the population, but they are systematically discriminated, exploited and subjected to violence, coercive religious conversion and political subjugation. Hindus are totally politically powerless and are controlled by Hindu traitors, Muslims and Christians. Hindus are not conscious that they are systematically and purposely signaled out for such discriminatory treatment and oppression.

HINDU SELLOUTS

Why there are so many “sellout” among Hindus? The Oxford English Dictionary defines “sellout” “to betray a person or cause for gain”. Examples in India include several Hindus (Jaichand, Nehru, Swami Agnivesh, Dig Vijaya Singh, V.P. Singh, Medha Padkhar, Puri Sankaracharya, Sashi Bushan, Ramila Thappar, Mayavathy, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Karunanidhi ). In contemporary politics, most of our pseudo secular Congress party and regional political party leaders are subservient to Christians, Muslims and their political actions retard Hindu advancement. Hindus in general are servile or otherwise lacking a sense of pride in Vedic Dharma or spiritual tradition. They are dangerously antagonistic to Hindu well being. They are worse than an enemy. An enemy is socially distant. The traitors, by contrast is a person who is trusted because of his perceived membership in Hinduism until he shows his true colors by which time he has often done harm to those who viewed him as a kinsman or fellow citizen.

The politics of betrayal, destructive behaviors of saboteurs, traitors, and spies within have done much damage to our Vedic culture and spread adharma. The specter of betrayal haunts Hindu’s imagination. Suspicions regarding Hindu betrayal and destructive behaviors of enemy within continue to be omnipresent. From the outset of his political campaign against British Christian colonialists, Nehru, the atheist Congress leader has had to deal with doubts about his loyalty to Hindus. Questions regarding betrayal also dog BSP leader Mayavathy, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Pranab Mukerji, Shiva Raj Patil, Sharad Pawar, Karunaidhi, and the Supreme Court Chief Justice Bala Krishnan. And the list goes on. The contours of Hindu anxiety over political betrayal and angst are not without reason. Political treachery, betrayal, and treason continue unabated. Selling out on Hindus is currently triggered by a wide range of actions including appeasement, special privileges for Muslims and Christians, Hajj subsidy, special status for Muslims in Kashmir and Converted Christians in Nagaland.

In India, Islamists and Christian organizations favor corrupt, pseudo secular, anti Hindu acquiescent politicians who from position of privilege who will neglect struggle for Vedic culture. It is genuine and natural for Hindus to fear that anti Hindu political leaders who favor organized Muslims and Christians who promote Hindu traitors and defectors who sap Hindu unity, and discourage strategies for resisting advances. They are constantly engaged in the maintenance of groups expend considerable energy seeking to promote cheaters, traitors, saboteurs, deceptive defectors, betrayers and enemy within who are knowingly or with gross negligence act against the interests of Hindus as a whole. Their approach neglects the requirement for maintaining national integration, equality, fairness and justice.

BANE OR BENEFIT?

Hindu “sell out” behavior of traitors is more of a bane than a benefit to Hindus and India. The “sell out” crowd imposes their definition of Hinduism on other Hindus. Obnoxiously intrusive, these traitors are not content with supporting anti Hindu ideologues. They want others to tell how to think, whom to love and how to be a real Hindu. They are reluctant to ask whether Muslims, Christians and Marxists have an obligation to respect human rights of Hindus and religious freedom. These Hindu traitors have betrayed our sacred Dharma and their unwillingness to pressure pseudo secular Congress party or Christian and Muslim fundamentalist, or persuade regional political party leaders like Karunanidhi, Samuel Rajasekhara Reddy, or Mayavathy to stop preaching their peculiar social pathology.

How should Hindus proceed, given the problem that Hindu traitors have created? One response is to repudiate and denounce Hindu traitors by all means necessary. Those who embrace Hindu traitors eschew efforts to create and maintain Hindu unity. They reject nationalism, Vedic culture, patriotism, because they object our eternal Hindu Dharma. They support the notion that Muslims and Christians need special privileges and political power and Hindus must maintain its boundaries as assigned to them by corrupt pseudo secular politicians. They reject demand for common civil code and national loyalty for Muslims, Christians and Marxists. They decline to follow Hindu Dharma and opt instead associate themselves with Jihadis and missionary gangs. Most Hindu traitors want to retain permanently a sense of group solidarity with Islamists in social, cultural and political life. They seldom attend any Hindu festivals but invariably throw Iftar parties and praise Jihadi leaders.

Hindus need collective action. Collective action however requires coordination, and coordination requires discipline, and discipline requires coercion or threat of coercion. Any community that thinks itself as a community must draw lines. Community leaders must have an obligation to decide that certain behavior of treachery and disloyalty will result in excommunication. For Hindus, it is legitimate to set up parameters. There must be some political and intellectual behavior that keeps one from being a Hindu.

The “sell out” rhetoric is harming India and Hindus. In the name of freedom and intellectual liberty Hindu detractors claim that calls for Hindu unity had the consequences of undermining rather than encouraging a healthy national integration. For Hindu traitors, Unity means solidarity with Jihadis and diversity means coercive and deceptive religious conversion of Hindus by missionaries.

I see no reason why in principle, a Hindu traitor should not be subject to having his membership in Hindu community revoked if he chooses a course of conduct that convincingly demonstrates the absence of even a minimum of alliance with our sacred Dharma. Vasudeiva Kudumbakham and pure tolerance does not mean dislike or hatred for Hindu traitors. Hindu haters assert that there is no more freedom than the freedom to think and to believe based on personal conviction no matter how unpopular that belief or conviction. What about the thought, their belief, their personal conviction that beheading or forceful conviction is the proper destiny of certain people? I am not willing to permit room for such thought as long as I am confident and assertive. If belief in say, Jihadism had any plausible chance of growing, gaining adherence and rising to power in our country. I would favor immediately crushing it.

Hindus are justified the imposition of restrictions on stifling orthodoxies without embracing the proposition that any idea, no matter how brutal and dangerous, should, on principle, be immune from suppression. With virtual unanimity we should make Hindu traitors like Swami Agnivesh a pariah. Are we wrong to do so? I think not. Pseudo secular Hindus and Marxists may speak as if ostracism, per se, is wrong. I think ostracism is good- ostracism of Jihadi terrorists, fascists, corrupt politicians and purveyors of other hateful, ideologies. It is progressive the successful repression of such ugly ideas and their attendant modes of violent conduct.

Imagine if Hindus could have jointly taken collective, appropriate and effective action against Islamic invaders, Criminal Robert Clive and his gang of looters? If we had taken collective action against Jihadi murderers in 1945, 1946, and 1947, instead of fasting, Sathyagraha, passivity and indifference, we could have saved millions of Hindu lives. Unfortunately our leaders have made them blind inactive zombies by Hindu sell out by political leaders. Hindus should have denounced Hindu sell out leaders and the fear of reprisal would have acted as a coercive influence. Our politicians join with Jihadis and missionary mafia because they are not physically harassed or intimidated by Hindus. More politicians would have evaded Muslim league if they faced the fear to do so. Such Hindu traitors should not exist or should not have participated in traitorous behavior. Sell out behavior and its concomitant attitudes, gestures and demagoguery must be ostracized if need be with political violence. These Hindu betrayers must be taught a lesson and must be part of the unavoidable cost of betrayal. The corrupt, anti national, pseudo secular Islamized monitor our activities and make it dangerous for Hindu activists who challenge Hindu traitors.

Hindus will also face “self appointed” guardians of Vedic virtue. Thus chiding of Hindu political correctness is itself an effort to police the boundaries of good conduct within Hindus. Secular Hindus permit Hindus to be intimidated and force Hindu groups into silence. Their reticence may be more accurately characterized as intellectual treason.

In the end, those Hindus who want to maintain the universal nature of Hinduism must consider the dysfunctional aspects of such intellectual treason. Promoting mindless universalism and the perils of pluralism must recognize the balance between collective Hindu unity and intellectual treason promoted as individual freedom. Acknowledgement of this dilemma will facilitate healthy rejection both the indifference to real pluralism and freedom displayed by devotees of Hindu traitors. They must be clearly labeled as betrayers and their actions must be rejected or regulated. The betrayers should be made to feel at least some of the pain that their action has wrongly inflicted upon an undeserving target.

If Hindus are active and assertive, such errant Hindus will find themselves subjected to ostracism, political betrayal will hopefully become less a weapon of Hindu bashing or demagoguery.

For example, Swami Agnivesh and Puri Sankaracharya are enemies of Vedic Dharma. Hindus should hold them to an even higher standard, not provide them with a way to weasel out of taking responsibility for being traitors. Swami Agnivesh statements against Hazzare, Puri Sanjkaracharya endorsing Missionaries and Jihadis, Ramakrishna mission celebrating Christmas and singing carol and Stahya Sai Baba’s ashram spending money for erecting Nun Thesis’s statues are absolutely reprehensible acts. The animosity towards them should be no surprise given the offense they are charged with committing. Supporting the enemies of our Vedic culture, they are the most vilified in the history of modern Hindus. Their names have become synonymous with selling out. Swani Agnivesh is what Judas to Jesus, a traitor and what Brutus to Caesar-an assassin. Imagine how Israel would have felt if the collaborator had been awarded a medal of honor or if, after India’s independence, Jinnah had been declared as the father of the nation.

Atheist Nehru can be called a charter member of the “Hindu sell out Hall of Shame”. Nehru should be called what Eichmann was to the nation of Israel.

Advani and Sinha recently declared Mohamed Ali Jinnah as a secularist—this can be considered inviting Hitler to participate in a debate on religious freedom. BJP leader Atal Bihari Bajpai has invited Pope Paul to India. It would be a similar to inviting Hitler to come speak on the rights of Jews. Such leaders deliberately feed society’s stereotypes about Hindus and do so for applause from our enemies and for personal gain. They denigrate the hard work, sacrifice and struggle of Hindus against fanatic Jihadis and aggressive and deceptive religious converters. They commit the crime of reassuring our enemies. We are justified in according such terms to our political leaders participating in “drive-by-shooting” of Hindus. Hindus ought to give serious thought to convict such leaders in the court of public opinion for intentionally undermining Hindu well being or for utter indifference to the collective interest of Hindus.

As political leaders they know or should have known better that to say what they say, because what they believe conclude what they conclude. It is this sense that all “sell outs” know better or should have known better that prompts their accusers to view them as social criminals who are acting outside the bounds within which reasonable people can reasonably disagree.

Leading shapers of Hindu public opinion must fervently discredit such Hindu betrayers for a variety of reasons. One is the pulling up or burning the bridge. Such people crosses ridges built by Hindus, torches them and pretends that bridges are unnecessary, that those Hindus who criticize them are too lazy or unintelligent.

Swami Agnivesh, Arunthathi Roy, Sashi Bushan, Ramila Thappar, and many other Hindu betrayers can be characterized as servile figures for Jihadis and missionaries. What should one make of their attack on Indian democracy and endorsing Jihadi terrorists? Their false and misleading political statements are deeply flawed, its vulnerabilities, however, have often been obscured by misleading arguments voiced by some of the media’s influential anti Hindu and national detractors.

We should pose the following questions to such Hindu traitors. Under what rationale do such traitors show moral courage to become hostile to our Sanathan Dharma? Whether Hindus ought to tolerate or support a policy that discriminate followers of Vedic Dharma? Surely, it would be improper to criticize or repudiate a policy that promotes national integration and Vedic Dharma. If the polcy is promoting closed dogmas, sharia law and special privileges for Muslims and Christians, it should be rejected. Hindus should consider seriously whether the government has the right to establish or continue discriminatory policies against Hindus? We need a strong campaign to ostracize such anti Hindu bigots leading the government.

HOW TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE HINDU DHARMA

It takes courage and perseverance to be kind of intercessor who will make a difference. It is not always easy. But if Hindus have an interest in putting Vedic culture in to our life, into our nation, and if you are an authentic Dharma warrior or a Hindu leader, or follow Vedic Dharma, you can clearly recognize the call of Bharat Mata (Mother India), to intercede and wage a spiritual war against the enemy.

For historical reasons, Hindus forgot the requirements for maintaining our community-policing the Hindu boundary-the benefits of appropriate ostracism (the suppression of ideas, and conduct that ought to be suppressed). If there is going to exist an ideal community based on Dharma, there must also exist some point at every citizen must act and determine what is in the best interest of the Hindu community.

The word peace, pluralism, universalism, Vasudeviakudumbhakam, “all religions are the same”, etc has permeated the thinking of Hindus for decades and flowed from number of pulpits. But there is less peace in India today and more hypocrites selling it like snake oil peddlers.

The worshippers and preachers of mindless universalism, “all religions are the same” are the supreme Hindu idealists who never abandon their dream even if their naïve act lead them to inadvertently make tyrants stronger and create living conditions for Jihadi terrorists, and missionary mafia peaceful. Such preachers impede peace, coexistence, pluralism, spirituality and progress and they are nothing more than a handmaiden to Jihadis and conversion gang. They often create a catastrophic erosion of safety and security for the peace loving Hindus. Do Hindus have to support such spiritual leaders to make one sided concession to our belligerent enemy? Hindus should remember that peace comes from strength (Shanti Comes from Shakthi) and Hindus should create a new paradigm and do not become prisoners of history fabricated by our enemies.

It is time for Hindus to join together and overcome denial, paralysis of social action and cognitive disorder, indifference and apathy and consider that ideological diversity, tolerance of intolerant dogmas, compromise with corruption, mindless universalism, tend to obscure the tragic dilemmas with which Hindus have continually faced. Hindus should realize that confronting pseudo secularist Hindu traitors, corrupt politicians who are pro Jihadists, even at the cost of violence is a mere survival strategy. And it is in the best interest for our Vedic culture.

Hindus must also confront vehemently so called perverted intellectuals, anti Hindu media persons, alienated academicians who have forsaken Dharma in return for monetary and other benefits supplied by our enemies. Hindus as a group must inflict injustice through ostracism on such traitors. The self appointed guardians of Hinduism equate intellectual malaise as political correctness.

Several Hindu spiritual leaders and their followers have fallen prey to what amounts to a conspiracy of silence about a variety of issues including Jihadi terrorism, religious conversion, corruption and Sharia law. They are fearful of engaging in a candid appraisal of pathetic Hindu conditions because they do not want to appear to be disloyal to fanatic Muslims and Christian fundamentalists. This has serious negative consequences for the ability of Hindus to grapple with the real problems Hindus are facing... These Hindu traitors are not promoting Vedic Dharma or Hindu spiritual tradition. Hindus must unite and stick together to preserve, practice, promote our Dharma for the present and future generations.

Is it in the best interest of Hindus to play a part in building passive, inward-looking, non-directive, institutions? Do such practices further the interests of our Vedic culture in as much as it tends to be disproportionally burdened by Islamic violence, Coercive religious conversion, corruption and apathy? Does special privileges for Muslims and Christians on balance, hurt Hindus or promote national integration? How do we respond to reckless Hindu traitor’s rhetoric and assault on our Dharma? How do we eliminate or neutralize Hindu “Trojan Horse” and “turn coats”?

WHAT CAN ONE HINDU DO?

How should Hindus proceed, given the problem that Hindu traitors have created? One response is to repudiate and Hindu traitors by all means. Those who embrace Hindu traitors eschew efforts to create and maintain Hindu unity. They contend that no Hindu should feel morally bound to express superiority of Vedic dharma.

Then, how do we know when our fellow Hindus need our intervention? How do we move forward? Do our activities really battle adharma? Can we thwart plans of our enemy? Before we get into the ABCs of intervention, let me tell you... Our enemies are well protected by anti-Hindu media, by government establishments and our ideological enemies. The security that they happily enjoy is nourished by key ingredients of our pathological tolerance, they face no restraints and there are no attempts to overcome unjust rhetorical practices and are often ignored by sympathetic onlookers.

Hindus should resist this perverted absolution. Hindus can insist that everyone ought to be paying much more for the Vedic culture. Some Hindu leaders even contend that proper respect for Vasu Deva Kudumbakham entails endorsing Islamic dogmatism and coercive religious conversion. They silently dismiss the demand for maximalist sacrifices from, Pseudo secularists, Marxists, and Christians for preserving India’s Vedic Culture. Hindus need a strong campaign to ostracize anti Hindu bigots. There is nothing wrong in denying traitors the prestige among Hindus and have a provocative new look on contemporary issues.

Increase role networks, interpersonal influence, and develop systems perspective and never paralyzed by anxiety and stimulate fellow Hindus conceptually and emotionally. Expose misuse of power of corrupt political leaders and ensure their defeat in elections. Provide assertive training for Hindus developing skills, positive attitudes and encourage Hindu activists to assume leadership role.

Hindus may encounter strong counterforce that may threaten our existence, organizations, and programs. These powerful negative anti Hindu forces must be controlled or they will control us. To be effective and to intervene we need to know the traps the enemy lays for people as they intervene. There are plenty of sad stories of gross error and problems with past Hindu groups. Many Hindu groups are weak or ineffective because of a lack of strong leadership. Motivating Hindus to acknowledge and act can be challenging. Loving Hindu Dharma and pure tolerance does not mean what Hindus can say, can think or do or be. But we need to act now to accelerate the process of positive change for preserving, protecting and promoting our eternal Vedic Dharma for India and the world.

VISIONS, STRATEGIES AND PRACTICES

Develop innovative and relevant training materials and resources that enable Hindus to address challenges.

Provide significant opportunities for growth and learning to become assertive and proud in our Dharma.

Always question and challenge Hindu traitors and “sell out” phony secular leaders and corrupt politicians.

Identify new Hindu leaders and new ways of operating that embrace our Santana Dharma and abandon practices of yesterday that no longer achieve results today.

One must not make our tolerance, universalism, and spirituality as the excuse for not being strong enough to stand up to protect our Dharma.

There is always the need to recognize approaching danger over the horizon and act with all available power before it actually arrives.

Always act in a pro-active manner for the self-protection and for Hindu Dharma.

Never compromise with the onslaught of adharma or suffer silently with tolerance.

Never philosophize evil perpetuate by our enemies with false sanctimonies as if we get some spiritual credit.

Burgeoning Muslim reservation seals Hindu fate only

With State Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh around the corner, and its campaign clearly floundering, the Congress has embarked upon a dangerous path that can only lead to social conflict. The party’s cynical move to set aside a quota for ‘backward Muslims’ within the 27 per cent reservation in Government jobs and educational institutions meant for the ‘Other Backward Classes’, is frighteningly myopic and must be thwarted. This is more than an electoral gambit and cannot be wished away as a tactical manoeuvre of insignificant consequence. It is calculated mischief with an eye to the Muslim vote of Uttar Pradesh.

The same calculation is reflected in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati’s demand that Muslims be given their own quota in jobs and colleges. Both the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party could argue that they are merely paying heed to a demand voiced by Muslims, but that is far from the truth. For what is being sought to be done is to brazenly pander to a communal demand that flies in the face of the Constitution, its provisions and, indeed, its secular character in the hope that this will result in securing the support of Muslim voters who form a significant block in Uttar Pradesh and could swing results in several constituencies. In a closely contested election where four parties are locked in battle such consolidation could tilt the balance towards the Congress if it is allowed to proceed with its mischief.

Worse, if the Congress is allowed to have its way with demarcating a separate communal quota, it will prove to be the proverbial thin end of the wedge: From here to an aggressive revival of Muslim separatism is only a hop, skip and jump away. The demands that will follow will range from legitimising shari’ah courts to forcing women to stay at home. These demands have already been voiced from various for a and by institutions that claim to represent India’s Muslims, including Darul Uloom Deoband; conceding the demand for a ‘Muslim quota’ will add traction to them and fetch a hostile blowback.

No purpose is served by risking communal discord and this message needs to be driven home. The spurious recommendations of the Sachar Committee which has meticulously collated manufactured grievance to justify its claim that Muslims get a raw deal in this country and active state intervention is required for their social and economic development need not be cited as reasons for creating fresh social strife. The Congress-led UPA regime has already injected communalism into the planning process by setting apart funds for ‘special development’ of minority-dominated districts although statistically poverty among Hindus is far more widespread than among Muslims. The Prime Minister’s misplaced assertion that minority communities have the first claim to development funds has further fuelled apprehensions. If the Government were to now push through a communal quota, those apprehensions will be further strengthened. Muslims, like their fellow citizens of any other community, aspire for good governance and opportunity, not favors from a paternalistic state.

Aseemanand questions bail to Malegaon 7, claims was tortured

Ten days after seven accused in the 2006 Malegaon blast case were released on bail, partly because of his confession that Hindu extremists were behind the attack, Swami Aseemanand has questioned the decision, reiterating that he had already retracted that statement made by him under “extortion”.

In a memorandum sent to President Pratibha Patil yesterday, with copies to the prime minister, home minister and the National Human Rights Commission among others, Aseemanand also alleged that he had been tortured “on account of my religion”.

“How can my extorted confession that was retracted be taken... to the aid of the Malegaon accused when no court has pronounced on my retracted confession? How can NIA (National Investigation Agency) support the bail pleas of Muslim accused in the Malegaon case in the face of the confession by these accused and the inputs shared by the government of India with the US and the UNO?” Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Aseemanand, who had been arrested in Mecca Masjid blast case in 2007, says in the memorandum.

“What a travesty of justice! On one hand a Hindu sanyasi like me is being made to suffer unimaginable and unbearable indignities by investigating agencies and state actors so as to extort my confessions. On the other hand, Muslim accused in the Malegaon case are allowed bail on the stand of the Union Home Ministry and the NIA using this extorted (retracted) confession,” stated Aseemanand.

In November 2010, he had been arrested by CBI officials from Haridwar en route Delhi, said Aseemanand. “CBI officials on several occasions stopped the vehicle on the roadside in pitch dark and made me kneel on the ground. After putting pistol on my temple they threatened to kill me if I did not act as per their desire. Upon my refusal they threatened that they would push me towards on-coming speeding traffic and that my death would be in accident. In this situation I felt ashamed that as a Hindu I have no human rights; I was subjected to torture on account of my religion. In custody, I was isolated. Losing all hope and to save my family members, I succumbed to their pressure and torture.”

He said that CBI officials “tortured” him to give 164 statements. He alleged that even in judicial custody CBI and NIA personnel enjoyed free and unregulated access to him. “On occasions even after midnight I was insultingly treated and (accused of) involvement in various blast cases. They also threatened to eliminate my mother, brother, and other relatives if I did not succumb to their demands,” stated Aseemanand, adding that when he was produced before the magistrate in Delhi on December 18, 2010, CBI officials were present in plainclothes and one of them “directed” him to depose “as per his instructions and the typed statement given by him”.

“Because of the immense mental and physical pressure I could not muster enough courage to tell the magistrate that I was making the statement under compulsion.”

He gave graphic details of his “unbearable physical torture” and stated, “They indicated that if I ever failed to tow their line, my mother would be brought from Hubli, I would be subjected to indignities before her after being undressed.”

“While in judicial custody in Tihar jail, I was kept in a cell along with two Muslim prisoners. They knew who I am. I was under traumatic condition and had no courage to resist the threats. I made the statement before the court as desired and tutored by the CBI officials,” said Aseemanand.

He said on January 15, 2011, he was taken to the room of “Dept” Superintendent, Central Jail Ambala, where NIA officials were present.

They gave him draft of the statement and directed him to make the said statement before the magistrate.

“Surrounded by such desperately deadly law enforcement agencies I again succumbed to the dictates of NIA officials and got recorded confessional statement on 15.01.2011 before the Panchkula court,” said Aseemanand, adding that ATS Rajasthan too “forced” him to write an application to become approver in the Ajmer blast case.

“Madam President, my confession was a result of the unimaginable physical and mental torture. This has been retracted. No judicial court has pronounced on my confession one way or the other. How can the accused in the Malegaon be shown indulgence of bail on the basis of my retracted confession when they had themselves given their confessional statement in the case? I get an impression that I am being targeted because I am a Hindu...,” said Aseemanand.

He added, “Madam President, it is astonishing to learn how after carrying out detailed investigations, and having informed the United Nations and the US about the involvement of Lashkar-e-Toiba and HUJi terrorist behind the Samjhauta blast, the home ministry has taken a summersault and started to rely upon criminally extorted confessional statement, which has already been retracted by me.”

Islamic hatred to Hindus knows no end

Even in the mid-80s and early 90s there was a hope (although faint undoubtedly) in the Indian political arena that with the spread of rapid urbanization to cope with the fast changing reality worldwide, fundamentalism will fall behind in Pakistan and hence, the saga of communalism there would lose its momentum. But that faint hope has faded too with the passing of years and latest documents prove that the entire analysis then was wrong and all these happened thanks to the inhuman dearth of knowledge with experience of the true nature of Islam among Indian intellectuals, perhaps a part of the legacy Hindus have been carrying on for more than last millennium. Here is the question. What’s the fundament behind concluding like this?

Only a few days back an US government report created sensation among several countries, not to speak of India. In accordance with the report the one and only aim of education system (depicted through text books in Pakistani schools) is to promote hatred and intolerance of minorities, the Hindus in particular and teachers look at these groups “as enemies of Islam.”

“Pakistan and Social Studies textbooks are rife with negative comments regarding India and Great Britain, but Hindus are often singled out for particular criticism in texts and in interview responses,” said the report. “This intolerance and prejudice also extends to other minorities like the Christians and Ahmadis, who consider themselves Muslims but are not considered so by the Pakistani constitution.”

Well, you still, like any secular and left-wing intellectual, can thrust all these aside terming as fictitious or the ploy of an imperialist force to create havoc among two neighboring countries making efforts to comprehend and come near to each other after decades. But it’s not possible to close the eyes to words of Pakistani youth in this regard. Right?

A few Pakistani youth, attending a workshop conducted by the Sociology Department of Mumbai University these days, has stated clearly that young children in the length and breadth of Pakistan are taught to hate India. It is to be noted, the entire group is in the Indian financial capital as part of a mission of promoting the practice of harmony and bonding amongst the young people of both nations.

One of these happens to be Sitara Jabeen, an MPhil student in Peace and Conflicts Studies at the National Defence University, Islamabad and as per her, anti-India mindset, one time, was regarded as the true patriotism even if the need of a change and peace is being seriously felt there these days. Sidra Tariq, studying MPhil in International Relations at the Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad, terms that both Pakistan and India are victims to terrorism. Same views have been shared by other members and Hina Anwar Ali, architect and youth activist in Lahore, was found to say that youth can work as a centre of peace process between the two countries.

But what about the verses in al-Qur'an spreading hatred against infidels? Some are listed below:

“And KILL them (the unbelievers) wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.” (Sura 2, verse 191).

“Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.” (Sura 3, verse 28).

Pakistanis in the mission, like any other Muslim across the globe, can’t ignore this and here from, the entire dilemma starts. If ignored, Islam will have to be thrown out and no Muslim can go against it. He/she has got to digest and enact whatever Islam teaches and hence, talk of harmony and need of reduction of violence, secularism by Pakistanis or any Muslim is a prank. What can we deduce? This is an innovative approach to swindle infidels, especially Hindus, further.

Truth behind the appeal to Hindus

Vatican’s thinking about Indian Christians is not based on facts and that is why the Pope’s Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue issued a message for Hindus on the eve of Dipawali. The message urged Hindus to fight against anti-Christian propaganda in the country. The appeal says that Dipawali is the festival of the conquest of the forces of light over darkness. It says Hindus and Christian should jointly fight and pave the way for religious freedom.

The Vatican’s appeal is very shrewd; it justifies Conversion in the garb of freedom of religion.

The Vatican is well aware that the Catholic Church in India enjoys equal freedom to Hindus. The representative of Pope Benedict XVI, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, directly appoints Bishops in India without any problem. The Church is continuously building new churches and schools in the name of minority rights. How much more freedom does the Vatican truly need?

The Vatican maintains that Christians have been victimized by Hindu extremists in the last few years and that this has posed problems for missionaries. But Vatican needs to understand that the main reason behind these conflicts is Conversion.

Many enquiry commissions set up by various states in Odisha, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh have pointed fingers towards this direction. At the same time, all Christians enjoy the right and freedom to follow their religion in India.

The problem arises only when and where missionaries try to increase the empire of the church. Is this not a fact that poverty stricken areas of tribal regions are the target of these missionaries? Why do missionaries help only those who accept their religion? “Jesus had said that if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect. (Math. 5:47-48)”

Missionaries face problem only at places where they try to convert the populace. This has increased tensions in tribal regions. Hindu organizations believe that the Vatican is preparing the ground for conversions on the basis of huge foreign funds. The fact is that these funds are received for social activity. But there is no improvement in the conditions of those who have already converted.

Ten percent of the total population of Catholic Christians in India lies in the Chotanagpur region. Even church documents accept that 91.47 percent of domestic girl workers are Christians, while the non-Christian (Sarna) comprise merely 1.3 percent. Sixty percent of the converted SC (dalit) Christians comprise the total population of Christians in this country. Yet the Church is currently trying to include them in the list of Hindu dalits.

It is a clear admission that conversion does not open the doors of liberation. The opposite seems to be true.

Kanchi Shankaracharya Swami Jayendra Saraswati and some other spiritual leaders met with Cardinal Jean Louis Pierre Tauran, President of Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue for Communal Harmony in 2009, in Mumbai. Here everybody accepted that conversion is the main obstacle in the path of religious harmony. Now Pope Benedict XVI is meeting the world’s spiritual leaders in Asisi, Ital,y and they are again discussing communal harmony.

The problem is that the success of evangelical activity has been linked with an increase in numbers. India is no exception. In the north-east region, Protestants and Catholics are fighting among themselves. The local Catholic Bishop Jose Mukala says that Protestant Christians are forcing Catholics to become Protestant in the Kohima region. Properties of Catholics are being subjected to arson. They have appealed for their safety to the United Nations! Some years ago, Catholic and Protestant missionaries had agreed that they would not convert each others’ members; but the question arises, from where will the numbers come?

In October 2011, hundreds of tribal representatives from nine states were called by the Catholic Church to Bhopal, for an Adivasi Mahotsava. The motive was to liberate them from social, economic and political exploitation. They were indoctrinated that they were not Hindus and were free to chose their religion. The motive is obvious.

Two years ago, the Catholic Church had told the Vatican that the church is still in infancy stage among tribal people. The meaning is obvious. But now, the rift between tribal Christians and non-Christians is getting wider.

The Vatican appeal to Hindus talks about anti-conversion laws in some Indian States and the problems these pose for missionaries. But the Vatican must be made to understand that the Indian constitution permits citizens to follow any faith of their choice.

The Indian constitution allows citizens to propagate any religion. But there is a thin line between Conversion and Propagating a religion. It is the duty of the State to restrict the freedom of those whose only goal is to just convert people.

It is well known that wherever people have been converted, social tension has increased. Now, the onus of establishing social harmony lies on the shoulders of the Church. The Church should spend the money it collects in the millions on the welfare of those who have already been converted and are now being exploited inside the Church. The Vatican should think about their genuine liberation.

The Importance of the Cow in Vedic Culture

Our West-influenced intellectuals sneer at the mention of the cow. The same intellectuals first sneered at yoga. Now it is a fashion to do pranayama at cocktail parties The arguments in the West for cow slaughter are no more uncontested. They also sneered at our sanyasis as `godmen'. Now they flock to ashrams with their white friends ever since the Beatles. Who knows, they may soon have a cow in their backyards.

India has 150 million cows, each of them giving an average of less than 200 litres of milk per year. If they could be fed and looked after, they can give 11,000 litres, as Israeli cows do. That would provide milk for the whole world. The milk we produce today is the cheapest in the world. With enhanced production we could become the world's largest exporter of milk and it could be India's biggest foreign exchange earner.

For those of us who are desi by pedigree and conviction, I place some facts about the cow in the perspective of modern Hindutva.

The cow was elevated to divinity in the Rig Veda. In Book VI, Hymn XXVIII attributed to Rishi Bhardwaja extols the virtue of the cow. In Atharva Veda (Book X, Hymn X), the cow is formally designated as Vishnu, and `all that the Sun surveys'.

Indian society has addressed the cow as gow mata. The Churning of the Sea episode brings to light the story of the creation of the cow. Five divine Kamadhenus (wish cows), viz, Nanda, Subhadra, Surabhi, Sushila, Bahula emerged in the churning.

Thousands of names in our country are cow-related: Gauhati, Gorakhpur, Goa, Godhra, Gondiya, Godavari, Goverdhan, Gautam, Gomukh, Gokarna, Goyal, Gochar etc.

They signify reverence for the cow, and our abiding faith that the cow is Annapurna.

In 2003, the National Commission on Cattle under Justice G. M. Lodha submitted its recommendations to the NDA government. The report called for stringent laws to protect the cow and its progeny in the interest of the rural economy, a constitutional requirement under Directive Principles of State Policy. Article 48 of the Constitution says: `The State shall endeavour to organise agriculture and animal husbandry on modern and scientific lines and shall, in particular, take steps for preserving and improving the breeds, and prohibiting the slaughter of cows and calves and other milch and draught cattle'. During the First War of Independence in 1857, when Bahadur Shah `Zafar' was installed as emperor by the Hindus in Delhi for a brief period, his Hindu prime minister, on the emperor's proclamation, made cow killing a capital offence. In Maharaja Ranjit Singh's kingdom, the only crime that invited capital punishment was cow slaughter.

The cow, according to the Vedas, provides four products for human use: (i) Godugdha (cow milk): As per Ayurveda, cow milk has fat, carbohydrates, minerals and Vitamin B, and even a capacity for body resistance to radiation and for regenerating brain cells. (ii) Goghruta (ghee): The best ghee, it is, as per Ayurveda useful in many disorders. In yajna, it improves the air's oxygen level. (iii) Gomutra (urine): Eight types of urine are used for medicinal purpose nowadays, among which cow urine is held to be the best. The Americans are busy patenting it. It has anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties.

It has immune-modulator properties, which makes it useful for immune deficiency diseases. In the classics there are many references to cow urine as a drug of choice. Even the Parsis follow this practice.

Lastly, (iv), Gomaya (dung) is considered as valuable as Gomutra and used to purify the environment, as it has radium and checks radiation effects.

Ancient Hindu wisdom on the medicinal properties of cow urine is borne out by two patents granted in the US for cow urine distillate (Patent numbers 6410059 and 6896907).

Even China has granted the distillate a patent as a DNA protector. A global patent has been granted for cow urine, neem and garlic as a pest repellent and for fungicidal and growth promoting properties for different crops (WHO 2004/ 087618A1). A US patent has been granted for strains from Sahiwal cow milk for plant growth promoter phytopathogenic fungi controlling activity, abiotic stress tolerating capability, phosphatic solubilisation capability, etc. And CSIR has filed for a US patent for amrit pani, a mixture of cow dung, cow urine and jiggery, for soil health improvement properties.

These claims were initially made in the Charaka Samhita, Sushrut, Vaghbhati and Nighantu, Ratnakar, etc. They prove the utility of cow dung and urine for sustainable agriculture as well as for disease prevention.

The arguments in the West for cow slaughter are no more uncontested. There are better sources of protein than beef. Any dietician's chart shows that beef with 22 per cent protein ranks below soya-bean (43), groundnut (31) and pulses (24 per cent). One kilogram of beef takes seven kg of crops and 7,000 kg of water to produce.

Thus cow protection makes economic and ecological sense. Swami Dayananda Saraswati, convenor of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha, has argued that non-vegetarianism indirectly contributes heavily to greenhouse gases and other pollution.

He quotes a UN report from 2006 that says, "Raising animals for meat as food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined". Ten of billions of animals farmed for food release gases such as methane, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide through their massive amounts of manure. "The released methane", the report says, "has 23 times the global warming potential of CO2". For these animals to graze, virgin forests are cleared. The livestock industry also needs vast stretches of land to raise mono-crops to feed the animals. The CO2 that the trees and plants store escapes into the air when they are destroyed.

Growing fodder implies heavy use of synthetic fertilizers produced with fossil fuels.

While this process emits a huge amount of CO2, the fertilizer itself releases nitrous oxide (3) -- a greenhouse gas that is 296 times more potent than CO2. Alarming though these facts are, all that people have to do is to avoid red meat. There will be no need to breed millions of animals for daily slaughter. The animal population will consequently decline.

A single individual by not consuming meat prevents the equivalent of 1.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions in a year. This is more than the one tonne of CO 2 prevented by switching from a large sedan to a small car.

So there are a number of reasons to be a vegetarian. People who eat meat think a pure vegetarian diet is optional. But now they have no choice if they are alive to what is happening to this life-bearing planet. There is no justification for eating meat, given the devastating consequences for the planet.

A new fervor for a cow renaissance is necessary. It is constitutional (for India) and we should defend it with all our might.

Madrasa education confident to make society more unyielding in Bengal

There is an age-old saying – it’s futile to measure force of the blizzard before its first wind blows. The subject of minority education, especially Muslim education, that was lying dormant till the other day in Bengal has come to the surface out of the blue almost and is showing no sign to retire soon. On the contrary, it is gaining strength with each day it passes. And without doubt, vote-bank politics, sturdy enough to segregate a well-knit social unit even, is playing a great role here.

Islamic radicalism in Bengal is getting bigger once again; a representative body of private religious madrasas in the state has rejected Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s offer of affiliation to 10,000 madrasas. West Bengal Rabeta Madaris-e-Islamia Arabia alleges presence of a conspiracy to bring religious madrasas in political fold.

It must be kept in mind an identical claim has been with Muslims in Bengal for decades, if not more. What leads to this sudden renunciation then? After all Islam has hardly any relation to the philosophy of renunciation.

Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, Chancellor of Darul Uloom Deoband, said, “Muslim should be aware of the government recognition offer for Islamic madrasas. Most of the Islamic madrasas in West Bengal are following the syllabus of Darul Uloom Deoband and Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur. Any madrasa run by Rabeta will never take Government recognition announced by the Chief Minister of West Bengal.” He has also said in glowing terms, “If Government wants to do something leave targeting Madrasa. Madrasa should have right to go their own way, destination Islamic Education.”

“Religious Madrasa should not take any Government Assistance. In Sachar Report we have seen only 4% Madrasa students. The rest are going to school or modern education centres. Government should take care of schools not Muslim-run Islamic Madarsa. Madrasas are teaching Islamic lesson. We have right to teach Islamic Education and build Islamic Educational Institution to our choice, which stated in Indian Constituency. We will abide Indian Constituency not State run Government Rule,’ Maulana Nomani also said.

If this happens to be the uncompromising posture of Islamic radicals in Bengal, dark days are ahead only. The aforesaid discourse speaks of bigotry merely, of a mindset that is always ready to exploit any situation to help Islam emerge victorious. This gets more confirmed when Darul Uloom Deoband and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind madrasas were advised (in the conference of West Bengal Rabeta Madaris-e-Islamia Arabia) to keep safe distance from Government Financial help to run the madrasa. Madrasa, as it was heard in the conference, should follow common processes to collect donation from Muslim Community, society.

To cut a long story short, Islamic school of thought is not ready to mingle with other parts of the greater society and considers any such interaction nothing apart from a face-to-face encounter or vicious struggle. There is perhaps no room for peaceful co-existence in Islam and this makes it anxious all the time within itself. And its relation with others, accordingly, remains strained without respite. Society turns into the final casualty on the whole.

We can see writing on the wall already – the more madrasa education gets popular, intransigence rules the day.

AMU Study Center movement, Kishenganj propels neo-radicals

It is already known to all – Muslim students, desperate to have Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Study Center in Kishenganj, Bihar, drummed up strong protests against delay in its establishment through creating a 15 hours of blockade throwing rail communication system in Eastern India out of gear on October 13, 2011. What followed next was a complete disaster as tens of thousands of railway passengers including Union Railway Minister, Dinesh Trivedi were left stranded. Even if the strike was withdrawn ultimately, damage had already set in.

Here is a minuscule picture of the crisis. According to railway department reports, no less than 30 thousand passengers including Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, on his way to Kolkata, were left stranded. Altogether 18 long distance trains like the Guwahati Rajdhani were badly affected. Some of these were - Rajdhani Express at Aluabari, Kamrup Express, Uttar Banga Express, North East Express, Saraighat Express, Bongaigaon Express, Teesta Torsha Express, Capital Express, Kanchankanya Express, Puri-Guwahati Express and others.

Apart from this NH-31 was also blocked for several hours and owing to it, movements of vehicles among states came to a halt. It is worthwhile to mention, people in the environs expressed their solidarity to the agitation through folding all activities.

What makes Kishanganj, town and district headquarter of Kishanganj district, Bihar a favored spot for AMU Study Center? As per latest statistics, the district, not to speak of the town, enjoys a high Muslim density; 70% Muslim population has made it a Muslim arsenal finally. On the word of local people, AMU Study Center has become a part of Muslim identity and this must be accepted since it was not possible for a mere 100 protestors from an Islamic student organization to hold the state almost to ransom. They were joined by hundreds of Muslim activists of Trinamool Congress and Congress from districts of Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Supaul, Khagaria and adjacent North Dinajpur, West Bengal.

If truth be told, a well-favored who’s who of Muslim leaders, cutting across political antagonisms, was present to spearhead the virulent campaign and express Islamic solidarity behind the cause. They included Chowdhury Abdul Karim, Cabinet Minister of West Bengal Assembly and also prominent Trinamool Congress leader, Tariq Anwar (MP), MLAs Akhtar-ul-Iman (RJD), Zakir Hussain (LJP), Mohammad Afhaq, Dr Javed, Mohammad Tousheef (all Congress) and West Bengal MLAs Gulam Rabbani and Ali Ramz alias Victor, former Bihar minister Haji Subhan, Araria Zila Parishad chief Shagufta Azim, ex-Kishanganj Zila Parishad chief Faiyaz Alam along with champions of Jamiat-ulema-e-Hind and AMU Students Union president A A Feroz. The meeting was presided over by Asrarul Haq, MP (Congress) – Kishanganj.

The presence of people from Bengal to lead the agitation is enough to spark debates regarding federal structure of India and the constitutional right of every state to manage its own affairs. This is coming to the fore in government circles of Bihar too but what do they prefer to steer clear of is that any Islamic movement tries best to accomplish the target – to preserve its own identity through challenging the hypothecated Hindu hegemony.

A few leaders, it has been learnt, has been charged for causing public damages along with public inconvenience. They are Ghulam Rabbani (Trinamool Congress), Ali Ramz alias Victor (Forward Bloc), Convener of the Kishanganj Education Movement (KEM) for AMU, Wasiqur Rahman and patron Md Hanif – all from Bengal, Asrarul Haq (Congress MP from Kishanganj) and three Bihar MLAs Akhtar Ul Iman (RJD), Dr Javed and Mohammad Tousheef (both Congress). But it is also no secret that charges will continue to live in records only – none is ready to hinder Islamic maneuver and become a part of alleged majoritarian communalism (?).

There is no way to have a sigh of relief – entire episode was just a dress rehearsal while the real and sturdier performance may take place before long. It was indeed a great success, enough to embolden radical Islamic mindset. But there has been another more revelation – struggling for a demand (study center to take place in Bihar only) by people, cutting across political lines and above all state barriers, has scores of implications. To cut a long story short, Islamic movement is changing its course of action and accomplishment of AMU Study Center in Kishenganj will be its first success.

Need of constitutional safeguards to save Bengali Hindus

Fate of Bengali Hindus is dwindling – scores of reports, articles and meticulous investigations have evidenced this from time to time and unless something is done before long, the entire community will be doomed forever. Hence, there is the need of pro-active people to change the destiny. They can take lessons from Bimalangshu Roy Foundation in the Indian state of Assam – engaged in saving the community from ultimate ruin. It has asked for immediate interference of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to execute Immigrant (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950, in the state as per Supreme Court directives and also to render the benefit of proviso to Section 2 of the said Act to the minorities of Bangladesh, persecuted, displaced and also compelled to migrate to different parts of Assam.

Dr. Rajdeep Roy, managing trustee of the Foundation named after his father, two time MLA from Silchar and a champion of the cause of the displaced Bengali Hindus in the past, has taken a leading part in this regard. He sent a letter to Singh and Gogoi on September 19 urging upon them to ensure constitutional safeguards for the Bengali Hindus who had been forced to flee from Bangladesh.

As per Dr. Roy, he appealed to the Prime Minister to recognize the displaced Hindu Bengalis as refugees and treat them as Indian citizens.

What does the letter include? In his letter to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, Dr. Roy said the history of Bangladesh, and its transition from a secular to an Islamic State, had left in its wake several episodes of genocide of minorities forcing them to take refuge in Assam. Moreover, discriminatory laws, such as Vested Property Act 1974 under which the government could confiscate property of persons deemed enemy of the State, had been responsible for appropriation of lands of minorities , thus acting as a catalyst for forced migration of minorities.

It was in this line that the Parliament while enacting the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950 specifically protected against expulsion, persons ‘who on account of civil disturbances or fear of such disturbances’ were displaced from or left their places and subsequently residing in Assam. Such provision was made in proviso to Section 2 of the said Act and this enactment was still in force unrestrictedly in Assam.

Each Kojaagari Laxmi Puja brings back horror of Noakhali

There is a well-known saying across India – whatever may be the extent of disaster in social life Bengali Hindus can’t steer clear of celebrating Puja, especially Kojaagari Laxmi Purnima – it’s a part of their social entity. Who did state this at first, it’s not known but without doubt this is valid for two factors mainly – Kojaagari Laxmi Puja is celebrated in almost each Bengali Hindu household and had Bengali Hindus desired to end it, they could have done it with the infamous, horrendous Noakhali genocide. But it never happened.

The Islamic pogrom against Bengali Hindus in Noakhali and Tipperah, positioned in the then Chittagong division of pre-partitioned Bengal, started on October 10, 1946 – on the day of Kojaagari Laxmi Puja. And when I am writing this article it is also another day of Kojaagari Laxmi Puja, dated October 11, 2011 – almost 70 years have passed by now but the religious persecution of Bengali Hindus in Noakhali, enough to put even Gestapo and perpetrators of Soviet Gulag to shame, haunts Hindu psyche on each Puja day.

As per history, Noakhali genocide affected the areas under the Ramganj, Begumganj, Raipur, Lakshmipur, Chhagalnaiya and Sandwip police stations in Noakhali district and the areas under Hajiganj, Faridganj, Chandpur, Laksham and Chauddagram police stations in Tipperah district. A total area of over 2,000 square miles turned into a cremation chamber of Hindus completely. The whole saga took place to avenge defeat of Muslims on Direct Action Day, August 15, 1946 – a face-to-face fierce battle started by Muslim jingoists to wrest Calcutta, the second city of the British Empire after London, from Hindus, ended with valiant reprisal by Hindus.

An assortment of reports, investigations do authenticate that 6,000 – 7, 000 Hindus were killed on the whole but above all massacres, rapes, abductions and forced conversions of Hindus and loot and arson of Hindu properties, perpetrated by the Muslim community in the districts of Noakhali caught the attention of humanity worldwide. The event not only sealed the fate of dreams of a free, undivided India but also of Bengali Hindus once and for all.

Now the subject remains of the extent of tortures on Hindus in Noakhali.

Here are some excerpts.

“Worst of all was the plight of women. Several of them had to watch their husbands being murdered and then be forcibly converted and married to some of those responsible for their death. Those women had a dead look. It was not despair, nothing so active as that. It was blackness…….the eating of beef and declaration of allegiance to Islam has been forced upon many thousands of as the price of their lives” – written by Miss Muriel Leister, member of a relief committee sent to Noakhali, on 6th November, 1946,(V.V. Nagarkar – Genesis – p 446).

October 23, 1946 edition of Amrita Bazar Patrika stated clearly:

“For the 13th day today, about 120 villages in Ramganj, Lakshmipur, Raipur, Begumganj and Senbag thanas (police stations) in Noakhali district with a Hindu population of 90,000 and nearby 70,000 villagers in Chandpur and Faridganj thanas in Tippera (Comilla) district remained besieged by hooligans. Death stares the people of these areas in their face and immediate rushing of supply to these areas with the help of military, who alone could do it, would save the lives of these people, most of whom have been without food for the last few days.”

On 16/10/1946, The Statesman reported:

“In an area of about 200 sq miles the inhabitants surrounded by riotous mobs, are being massacred, their houses being burnt, their womenfolk being forcibly carried away and thousands being subjected to forcible conversion. Thousands of hooligans attacked the villages, compelled them (Hindus) to slaughter their cattle and eat. All places of worship in affected villages have been desecrated. The District Magistrate and the Police Superintendent of Noakhali took no step to prevent it.”

Noakhali carnage took place due to several factors, one of them was the need of Muslim vengeance to defeat in Great Calcutta Killing by Hindus. On October 10, 1946 the pogrom started with the rabble-rousing speech of Gulam Sarowar, an ex-M.L.A of Muslim League at Begumganj Bazar. A dreadful anti-Hindu speech by quoting verses of Quran exhorting Muslims to kill the Kafirs and idolators and perform religious duty was given. This was followed by violent assaults of Muslim mobs on Hindu properties, killings of hundreds of Hindus, rapes of Hindu women – a complete savagery.

When the correspondent of 'Amrit Bazaar Patrika' S.L.Ghosh reached noakhali, he reported:

"The horror of the Noakhali outrage is unique in modern history in that it was not a simple case of turbulent members of the majority community (Muslims) killing off helpless members of the minority Hindu community, but was one whose chief aim was mass conversion, accompanied by loot, arson and wholesale devastation... No section of the Hindu community has been spared, the wealthier classes being dealt with more drastically. Abduction and outrage of Hindu women and forcible marriages were also resorted. The slogans used and the methods employed indicate that it was all part of a plan for the simultaneous establishment of Pakistan."

Each Kojaagari Laxmi Puja brings back horror of Noakhali more and more – an episode that remains unparalleled in the history of savagery even, in every sense of the term.

Divisive Communal Bill

The Prevention of Communal And Targeted Violence (Access to Justice And Reparations) Bill consisting of 138 Sections and several Schedules altogether running into 66 pages is as without any legitimate social purpose as it is mischievous in its thinly concealed aims and objects. The need for a marathon criminal statute arises only when the prohibited conduct has assumed endemic proportions and the statutes already in force are thoroughly ineffective to eliminate it. In other words it has turned into a chronic cancer of the national multitude. Yes occasionally in some isolated corners of the country such offences do occur but our people are far too civilised to indulge in them with regularity and frequency to cause what the great Bentham in his Theory of Legislation called ‘alarm’.

Even on those rare occasions when they erupt it is almost always and invariably that some evil gang leaders instigate and plan them for some ignoble political end. It is these criminals who occupy the upper decks of our social and political life who have to be identified and eliminated. The available laws have never been used against them. Will somebody examine the statistics of prosecutions and convictions for such offences? The Bill is not designed to cure alarm instead it is intended to create false alarm which the leaders will translate into crimes, social tensions and divisions destructure of our nationhood and patriotism.

This Bill has been drafted by the National Advisory Council headed by Sonia Gandhi, and put as an agenda item for discussion at the National Integration Council meeting, chaired by the prime minister, held on September 10.

Silent remained the government lawyers who had questioned Anna Hazare’s audacity of preparing drafts and seeking a tough Lokpal Bill. Obviously a draft from the NAC, (a nominated body without any constitutional or parliamentary status), proposing a central law on a state subject, and without consulting the states, was far higher in the governmental pecking order than a draft from Anna Hazare. And woe betide any minister or MP who dared to question its legitimacy for being included in the NIC agenda, without following any prescribed procedures.

It was known that a badly shaken government is anxious by some means to divert the enraged public mind from corruption, from Kalmadi’s CWG and the 2G scam to non-existent atrocities on minorities and perpetuation of vote banks.

Even on cursory reading, the Bill is unconstitutional, anti-national and communal piece of pseudo-legislative work. Unconstitutional because it completely violates the federal principle and poaches into the powers of the states. It also violates the provisions of Article 14, by its scandalously communal definition of the word ‘group’.

It is anti-national and communal because it seeks to divide a polity already under multifarious divisive threats through novel manoeuvres. By the repugnant definition of the term ‘group’ in Section 3 (e), namely, “group” means a religious or linguistic minority, in any state in the Union of India, or Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes within the meaning of clauses (24) and (25) of Article 366 of the Constitution of India”, the lack of good faith in the NAC’s intention is exposed.

Communal violence, regardless of whichever community perpetrates it, is criminal and anti-national. If the NAC was indeed keen on addressing this issue, it should have established its bona fides by viewing the issue in a secular perspective, and through the prism of a sound analytical framework to identify recurring causative factors and then suggesting the best preventive and punitive measures, after consultation with legal experts, and political parties. The draft does not envisage a mere grant in aid or a welfare scheme for minorities — it contains a Bill, the provisions of which have a sinister implication on constitutional provisions and the prevailing laws of the land. The NAC’s objective to provide a symptomatic framework for ‘good communal violence’ and ‘bad communal violence’, as if communal violence can be equated with cholesterol, comes through quite clearly by the definition of the word ‘group’. It is trying to achieve the ultimate by communalising even communal violence, and ensuring that it further destroys community coexistence in our country.

Social scientists, civil society organisations and administrators would broadly agree that communal violence assumes serious proportions only when fanned and encouraged by local political/religious leaders. Sometimes, communal violence is deliberately engineered by political leaders to disgrace a government, and effect a leadership change, such as what happened in Karnataka in 1990. But mostly it is stray incidents like desecration of places of worship during religious festivals that become large communal clashes, always with encouragement of local political/religious leaders, who then retreat into the background, leaving the innocent people to suffer.

The NAC’s eminent members who would be aware of the dynamics of communal violence and community dynamics at the grassroot. I am informed that following the dynastic model, there is an outstanding tri-generational advisory group consisting of an elderly retired civil servant, his former joint director, and probationer. Have they taken into account the impact of their Bill purely from the sociological point of view on the lives of the minorities? Have the religious and linguistic minorities agitated for a Bill as prepared by the NAC? I don’t think so. I have neither read anything in the recent past in defence of the Bill by any respected leaders of the religious and minority communities. The chief ministers of several states, including UPA partner Mamata Banerjee, have criticised the Bill as violating the federal structure. Eminent jurists, particularly former CJI Justice J S Verma and Justice B N Srikrishna have argued against it. So why impose such a Bill, which the BJP rightly termed as dangerous for the country, on the minorities of our country?

I would like to make a suggestion to the NAC. Can we stop seeing persons belonging to minority communities as a sheaf of ballot papers with the luckless Hand stamped on them? Can we stop seeing them as a bank of votes, but instead give them the respect due to human beings who wish to live with dignity, peace and security, with religious and cultural freedom, with aspirations for themselves and their children for education, employment and opportunity, and do everything possible to provide such an enabling environment? Wooing them with such draft laws will only ghettoise and alienate them further. It will neither provide them any sustainable social and economic benefits nor strengthen national unity.

The minorities of all shades have produced men of magnificent intellectual attainments coupled with ennobling compassion for fellow citizens and a spirit of sacrifice for the greatness of the nation. We can produce many more by a proper system of liberal education that fosters genuine secularism and rule of reason in place of blind superstition and fanatical faith. This is the need of the hour not this legislative garbage.

Anna Hazare’s historic success inspires all but Muslims

The long and valiant crusade of Anna Hazare on the issue of corruption (escalating exponentially), with obtaining positive disposition of Parliament of India on most crucial facets of much talked Jan Lokpal Bill, has finally come to an end. Venerable Anna broke his fast on August 28, 2011 around 10.20 am by having a glass of coconut milk mixed with honey from a Dalit and Muslim girl, Simran and Ikrah respectively. Without doubt, entire nation had a sigh of relief while perceiving Anna breaking his 12-day-old fast.

All these have brought to the fore a new issue as well and it’s the inclusion of the Muslim girl in breaking Anna’s fast. Was it too essential, especially when the Muslims were advised not to partake in the same battle? Perhaps there was a need to make the struggle as entirely secular and in India secularism stands for hugging Muslims and nothing else. By now if any reader has started to get skeptical of this scribe’s moral fiber, I am helpless. Personally, I have no problem with the Muslim girl, another manifestation of Mata (mother) to me. The problem remains with the derisory attitude, reflected time and again (through wooing Muslims) to testify secular credentials of India. Alas, Team Anna has failed to be any different.

You have every right to question what the problem with Islamic mindset is. It must be kept in mind while a section of national media has termed the anti-corruption struggle (getting a national spectrum amazingly fast much to the dismay of others) as a Hindutva sponsored movement, majority of Muslim controlled media, if not more, has termed Anna as Gandhi of media and Hindutva forces. What impedes Muslims from shouldering the burden of mounting corruption along with others? A good answer to this from the questioner ever ready to nail me of abovementioned issues is appreciated. Why do they get busy to find out benefits of Muslims only because of participation in any general movement? If anyone tries to play this divisive tendency down, he/she must be prevented.

In the last few days, lots of similar concepts, regarding Anna Hazare struggle, have come to the fore thanks to Muslim thinkers, journalists and even bloggers. And the name that comes to us before all is of Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Imam of Jama Masjid in Delhi. He advised Muslims to steer clear of Anna’s campaign since it was under leadership of Hindutva forces and was against the Muslim ethos too. Slogans, Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata ki Jai, chanted myriad times caused his ire.

He also stated in public Anna did not want to engage Muslims in the anti-corruption protests. "He could at least have met some leaders of the minority community and made references against communalism to make his campaign look more inclusive," he said.

Here is the definition of partisanship. It denotes an inclination to favor one group, view or opinion over alternatives. What are the views of Mr. Bukhari then? It is a blatant and partisan view. But he is not alone. Masoom Muradabadi, senior journalist has also stated alike views. As per him, Anna is dancing to the tune of RSS. He has also stated that leadership of Anna in line one, two or three are in hand of Hindutva minded people and no representation of OBC, Dalit and minorities in the leadership. Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam, chief of All India Milli Council, considers Anna has been encircled by all kinds of fascists and devious characters.

Hamid Noomani, Secretary of Jamiat Ulema Hind, feels that the cause is genuine but the path Anna has chosen is not correct.

Maybe a few Muslims have contradictory views but they are minority and their thoughts are considered as blasphemous also. Hence, those are unworthy.

Leaders and newspapers do represent people and a society; aforesaid statements prove Anna Hazare, for not speaking of Muslim issues too, have antagonized Muslims in India.

Does August 15 signify independence for Hindus in India too?

Today is August 15, 2011 and with it the whole of India has got heavily engaged to celebrate its 65 th prized independence or light and freedom that had come when the world was sleeping. But celebration of independence does not mean hoisting national flags in the vicinity and ending with cricket tournaments or making joyous picnics.

Independence does have a deeper meaning and unless a nation grasps it, its downfall becomes imminent. What we are witnessing at the moment is a steady downfall of India, slow but steady erosion of her values, cultural dignity, steadfastness – these three aspects are regarded as foundation of any nation’s independence. Where does India stand then? Where is the majority Hindu community in India standing then? These questions are hanging around in these days and must be answered.

Hindus made a glorious contribution in struggle against British imperialism and sacrificed in every form and everywhere to oust the fiendish dominance of almost two centuries. Hindus, taking inspirations from the clarion call of Swami Vivekananda and “Anandmath” of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, initiated revolutionary struggle in the Indian soil which soon earned a wide-reaching esteem. The fierce yet magnificent battle waged against British Raj subsided soon due to iniquitous deeds and mounting repressions of the alien government but Hindu-German conspiracy, hatched to uproot British remains unparallel, due to its intensity and excellence, even in the contemporary world.

Revolutionary movement was overshadowed, without doubt, by the non-violence movement under the aegis of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (alas Mahatma Gandhi) but participated mostly by Hindus. Well, to what extent non-violence movement became triumphant to snatch independence remains debatable but undoubtedly, combination of revolutionary and non-violence movements, under Hindu leaderships, played great roles to have independence from foreign control.

But the end did not become as expected by Hindus. Steady rise of Muslim League as the spokesperson of Muslim rights and its promotion into custodian of the same, especially after the emergence of Mohammed Ali Zinnah, in 1940s brought every Hindu desire to a standstill. Paltry presence of Muslims, exceedingly occupied to create an Islamic state of India always, in national liberation struggle stopped to matter anymore and what started to matter was its numerical presence and brawny strength along with aspirations to create a separate Muslim state called Pakistan.

Riots to have Pakistan expressed through Great Calcutta Killing – Direct Action Day on August 16, 1946 – and Noakhali pogrom against Hindus and counter-actions to those engulfed the whole of then Indian subcontinent. But this was not any ordinary riot – while one community (Islamic) was frantic to annihilate another one racially, the other one was trying to save itself desperately. And in the end Pakistan became a reality devouring millions of Hindus, if not more.

Have Hindus become independent after that? This is a crucial question. While a portion of Bengali Hindus still languish in Muslim dominated Bangladesh and are persecuted there day in and day out, fate of Kashmiri Hindus in India is no different. They, after being driven out of their homeland forcibly, have turned into mere refuges in the streets of Delhi. What has been done to them even after over two decades of forcible expulsion? The matter is still under consideration!

Had this taken place with Muslims in India what would have happened? Not to speak of building up a strong international opinion by secularists, government of India would simply have jumped to nurse the wounded Muslim psyche (without losing a second) apart from showering millions of money on them.

Who does emerge as victorious in Indian independence struggle then? It’s none but Muslims who virtually remained aloof from the nationwide struggle between 1905-1947. Apart from creating two independent Muslim dominions on two sides of Indian border, a chunk of Muslims remained in India and the same through flexing muscles recurrently is dominating modern Indian politics more and more.

Does this veracious reality portray any form of Hindu independence in India? Does August 15 signify independence for Hindus too? It’s the time to mull over this subject.

Secular and independent India through executing an assortment of bills, predominantly Hindu Code Bill, has made Hindus entirely effete. To save itself from further decay and above all destruction, Hindus have got to wage a new liberation struggle. And it must also come out from its age-old beliefs and start differentiating between State of India and its coveted motherland.

Contemporary India where they are regarded as second-grade citizens is not Hindus' own independent land.

It’s the time to re-assess Hindu Code Bill

Decades may pass but if anything (be it any notion or bill), introduced once, continues to affect a particular community incessantly, neither its source nor factors responsible for its enactment can be written off ever. Hindu Code Bill, passed in mid 1950s in India, alleged to unify Hindus and thus the whole of India, is still a controversial subject and is considered by many as a ploy to retain Hindus in a cocoon of pseudo nationalism and pseudo secularism. These thoughts did surface then too but a great section of Hindus having faith in the State structure refuted. After several decades it is being mulled over by pundits that the Bill has done more harm to Hindus.

Witnessing hapless situation of Hindus these days, some schools of thought nowadays comprehend the reality and also the myth of Hindu Unity through Hindu Code Bill nurtured smartly by Indian state structure. It is worthwhile to mention that four Hindu Code Bills were passed and these are Hindu Marriage Act (1955), Hindu Succession Act (1956), Hindu Minority and Guardianship Act (1956) and Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act (1956).

Here is a synopsis of Hindu Code Bill.

Hindu Code Bill, as per historians and legal experts, was aimed to render a civil code instead of a Hindu personal law. Well, such an idea did come up in British India too but the law was amended to a certain extent under the alien rule. On April 9, 1948 Hindu Code Bill was introduced to the Constituent Assembly for the first time but the following ruckus, raised by its antagonists, proved to be too heavy for the then Union Government of India. To make it easier and also to delude Hindus, the bill was fragmented to three more specialized bills. These were again introduced between 1955 and 1957.

Hindu Marriage Bill, in short, illegalized ancient Hindu tradition of polygamy and also contained provisions managing inter caste marriages and divorce procedures. Hindu Succession Bill, with regard to inheritance of family property, placed daughters similar to widows and sons. Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Bill concentrated on the saga of adoption of girls. Many Hindus considered these as blazing torches of liberalism. But even after 50 years of enactment of these bills, problems remain same. To be exact, they have become murkier than before and in this case, application of Hindu Code Bill, hurried and wrongly assessed, can’t be ruled out.

Hindu Code Bill faced sharp criticisms of Hindu nationalists including Dr. S.P. Mokerjee and N.C. Chatterjee as they considered such an act was not only an assault on Hindus but also a threat to stability and veracity of traditional forms of marriage and the family in Hindu society. Swami Karpatriji, highly revered sanyasi belonging to the Dandis, launched a mass struggle to call this move a halt.

Ram Rajya Parishad, his own political party, organized copious demonstrations against the Hindu Code Bill. 15,000 people did attend a week-long conference in Delhi at the beginning of 1949 and some of them were personalities like Princess of Dewas Senior (a former princely state in Central India).

What did infuriate the said two Hindu nationalist leaders from Bengal? They were annoyed since the civil law reform concerned Hindus only, while the Constitution instructed (in article 44 of the Directive Principles) the State to give India a uniform Civil Code. Dr. Mookerjee criticizing the bill fervidly stated "government did not dare to touch the Muslim community."

What did prevent Nehru from introducing a Muslim Code Bill? He, modern scholars suggest, was eager to turn himself as custodian of minority Muslims, including those who preferred to remain in India after partition.

Even Rajendra Prasad, elected as President of the Republic in 1950, was hurt by this notion for having 'new concepts and new ideas…. are not only foreign to Hindu Law but may cause disruption in every family'.

But Nehru was unstoppable and Hindu Code Bill continues to rule Hindus.

Is it a stigma? Has not the time come to reassess Hindu Code Bill once more and build up strong movements for its eradication, if necessary?

Noakhali genocide remains a forgotten event thanks to poor-spirited Bengali Hindus

It was Circa 70 when Jews became subject to religious persecution for the first time. Then ancient Roman Army destroyed Jerusalem, killed more than 1 million Jews, forced almost 100,000 Jews to become slaves and captives. Tens of thousands of Jews from Palestine were also dispersed to other sites in the Roman Empire. This saga of persecution ended with holocaust or mass murder of Jews under the German Nazi regime from 1941 until 1945.

Jews roamed across the globe for 2,000 years but none of such atrocities was disregarded ever. Each and every Jewish book expresses these as blackest days in their own history and the same concepts are transferred from one to the next generation.

How can Bengali Hindus fail to remember Noakhali episode then? Noakhali genocide or carnage, a series of Hindu massacres, abductions and forced conversions under the aegis of dominating Muslim community in districts of Noakhali and Tipperah of Chittagong Division of then undivided Bengal, continuing from October 10, 1946 to late November, shocked moral sense across the globe. The event not only sealed the fate of dreams of a free, undivided India but also of Bengali Hindus once and for all.

Without a shred of doubt, Bengali Hindu community, unlike Sikhs, has failed to recover from shocks of partition on the whole. It is deprived of power, be it political, social or philosophical, and is reeling under the threat of negationism at the moment.

Shall the said question be repeated yet again? Perhaps there is no such need; Bengali Hindus, through their incapacity to save, develop themselves gradually and exaggeration of knowledge dispiritedly for decades, have converted them into a laughing stock only.

Now the subject remains of the extent of tortures on Hindus in Noakhali.

Dangerous and Anti Hindu Communal and Targeted Violence Bill

PREVENTION OF COMMUNAL AND TARGETED VIOLENCE (ACCESS TO JUSTICE AND REPARATIONS) BILL, 2011

· A draconian law which will impose permanent emergency in India for Hindus and the condition of Hindus will be similar to the condition of Jews in Germany who were tortured and executed without reason and merely on an allegation.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said once that Muslims have first right over National Resources. This bill shows the same mindset of appeasement at work.

1. Who has drafted it?

· National Advisory Council (NAC) has drafted the communal violence bill with the purpose of presenting it in the Parliament in the monsoon session.

· NAC is an extra- constitutional body acting as a Super Parliament. It was constituted by Central Govt in the year 2004

Chairperson of NAC is President of Congress Party Smt. Sonia Gandhi. Its members include hand picked NGO activists who are Pro-Congress and known Hindu bashers like Teesta Seetalwad , Harsh Mander and likes.

Intention behind the bill

· Union Minister Kapil Sibal while making this bill public remarked about the alleged involvement of state government in Gujarat riots and hence such incidents should be prevented in future.

· Every bill has an INTRODUCTION which underlines the reasons for bringing the bill and the OBJECTIVES it seeks to achieve. This bill does not have any Introduction and hence does not specify the reasons or objectives.

· Timing of this bill is very important. Much maligned Christian organizations of USA have put India on its Human Rights Watch list after episodes in Gujarat and Orissa. This organization has never talked about the plight of Hindus in Kashmir or in Tripura and Manipur.

DANGEROUS PROVISIONS OF THIS BILL

Most dangerous definition in the bill is that of ‘The Group’ which “means a religious or linguistic minority in a given State or Scheduled Castes and scheduled Tribes”.

Scheduled castes and scheduled tribes already have a very strong law namely the Scheduled Caste and The Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of atrocities) Act, 1989. Hence need no additional law.

There is nothing called linguistic minority. Even in Maharashtra, if we see a dispute between Marathi and other languages, it is more of a dispute with non – Maharastians and assertion of Marathi culture on regional basis and not about language.

Regarding minorities, Parsi is a peace loving community and Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains are considered to be Hindus. Except for riots against Sikhs in 1984, there is no history of riots against them.

Hence in the name of religious minority, the bill is concerned only about Muslims and Christians. Muslims form 73% of the entire minority population. Christianity grows on conversions.

Thus the real intention of the bill is to appease Muslims as has been policy of Congress in the past and with an eye on U.P. elections next year as an immediate gain.

AN ACT IS AN OFFENCE ONLY IF IT IS AGAINST THE GROUP i.e. read against MUSILMS AND CHRISTIANS

a. Communal and targeted violence means an act or series of acts, whether spontaneous or planned, resulting injury or harm to the person and or property, knowingly directed against any person because of his membership of THE GROUP.

b. Hostile environment against THE GROUP means a hostile environment created against THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians) so that it is difficult for them to do any trade or business or deprive them of their fundamental rights, or force them to leave their home or do any act which creates an offensive environment.

e.g. It is difficult to know when a person feels offended about an act.

For example if a Hindu refuses to give his house on rent to a Muslim, a businessman refuses to take raw material from a Muslim supplier, or a Muslim student is not given admission by a school or a client wants to change his Muslim lawyer, or a list of terrorists involved in bomb blasts in last 1 year is published in the newspaper and due to above said acts, a Muslim feels offended, this is an offence under this act.

c. Victim means any person belonging to this GROUP (read Muslims and Christians) who has suffered physical, mental, psychological or monetary harm to himself or his property and includes his relatives, legal guardian and legal heirs.

e.g. how can we measure which action leads to mental and psychological pain. For example any Muslim or Christian can complain that mental harm is caused to him by the noise of the band in the marriage party, the shankh or bell in temples, the processions during Diwali Dushara etc. then will the police book and arrest all persons involved in the procession etc.?

d. WITNESS is any person who knows about the facts or has information about the injury done to THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians) only.

e. HATE PROPAGANDA includes any material published or communicated by words spoken or written or by signs or by visible representation or otherwise which incites hatred and may lead to violence againstTHE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians) or broadcasts or publishes or advertises any such information against THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians), he is guilty of hate propaganda.

For example if any newspaper publishes the provocative speeches of Muslim fundamentalists who are inciting people on the basis of religion, or if a newspaper publishes list of terrorists who are Muslims or Christians or if anybody publishes names of Ajmal Kasab and Afsal Guru in newspaper in relation toJehad or if there is discussion or debate or seminar on terrorism or fundamentalism, etc. and the role of Muslims or Christians is discussed, this could be an offence.

This will give a death blow to freedom of speech and expression and will be against democracy.

e. Head of the organization/association will be responsible for act of its members

If any ordinary worker is involved in any such act against THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians), the head of the organization can also be considered guilty. Thus if false complaint is lodged against a Hindu and he is member of a certain Hindu organization, then the head of that Hindu organization can also be arrested. Also if a Hindu is involved in any of the abovesaid acts and he says that he belongs to a certain Hindu Organization or is made to forcibly admit, then the head of the organization can be arrested.

f. TORTURE - If a public servant does any of the abovementioned Act including mental or physical pain against THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians), he is guilty. He can be prosecuted without permission from the govt. which is otherwise always needed and is essential.

Public servants can also be removed from their office/job for dereliction of duty i.e. not doing enough to get justice for THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians).

Public servants can also be held guilty for not being able to control the subordinates under him. Hence highly placed Senior Public Servants will always be afraid of being punished for not doing enough in favour of THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians). Thus they can be arm twisted to inflict atrocities against a Hindu even without any evidence and just to please minorities.

The bill also states that the public servants including police cannot say that they were just doing their duty/obeying seniors if they do anything against THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians). They will be punished.

g. SEXUAL ASSAULT is an offence only if committed against THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians).

h. If a complaint is filed by any person of THE GROUP (Muslims and Christians) then the Hindu will be held guilty unless he proves his innocence. The Muslim or the Christian complainant does not have to give any proof. Mere allegation is enough.

This is in contradiction of the basic premise of law which states that “everybody is presumed innocent till proved guilty”. This bill states every Hindu accused is guilty till he proves his innocence.

NATIONAL AUTHORITY FOR COMMUNAL HARMONY, JUSTICE AND REPARATION

a. National Authority will be formed by Central Government to supervise and implement the provisions of the bill.

b. It will have 7 members including Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. 4 out of 7 members including Chairperson and Vice Chairperson will always be Muslims. This means the bill considers that only Muslims and Christians can take care and do justice for THE GROUP (Muslims and Christians). This a dangerous premise as it means that a Judge or President, Vice-President, Prime Minister or any other Public Servant takes care of people belonging to his religion/community only.

c. National Authority will monitor the postings, transfers of public servants including police, security forces etc. in case of even apprehension of communal violence against Muslims and Christians. This means even on the basis of one small information, National Authority can over take all the powers of the State Government and can interfere in the affairs of the states.

National Authority has almost unlimited powers as it can even issue orders to police and Armed forces in cases of communal violence against Muslims and Christians. Statements given to the National Authority is equal to statement given in court of law.

f. Qualification for being a member of National Authority. Usually retired judges of High Court/Supreme Court are appointed in various Commissions but in this case, persons need not be retired judges of High Court or Supreme Court.

g. Only THE GROUP (read Muslims and Christians) have right to relief, compensation. A Hindu victim of communal violence has no right relief and compensation under this Act.

CENTRE WITH THE HELP OF NATIONAL AUTHORITY WILL EXERCISE UNLIMITED POWERS TO INTERVENE IN THE STATES (READ STATES RULED BY OPPOSITION PARTIES) AND WILL TREAT A RIOT AS AN INTERNAL DISTURBANCE AND CONSIDER IT AS BREAKDOWN OF THE STATE MACHINERY LEADING TO IMPOSITION OF PRESIDENT RULE.

This means that if the Congress government at the Centre decides to dismiss the government in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka etc., a few unlawful elements can always stage manage a riot in these states and if it continuous for a few days, then the public servants, the police, the security forces can be transferred, posted, held guilty and hence threatened and intimidated; for an act of any public servant, head of the state i.e. Chief Minister will be held responsible and punished. Thus the complainant, the prosecutor and the judge is a same person.

CONCLUSION

This bill will break the federal arrangement in the country i.e. powers divided between centre and states and will also create ill-will between different religious communities.

This bill considers Hindus as a violent community who always does violence against Muslims and Christians and others. Hindus are always the accused. Muslims and Christians never do violence and are always the victims. Hence while Muslims burning Sabarmati Express, in Gujarat is not a crime but the spontaneous reaction from Hindus in form of Godhra riots is a crime.

Under the proposed Act, when a Danish cartoonist made a cartoon of Prophet Mohammed and Muslims rioted and killed Hindus in India, the killing of Swami Lakshmananand who opposed the conversions by Christian Missionaries is not a crime. But any reaction by and from Hindus is a crime.

The crimes under this bill are cognizable and non- bailable.

If this bill is passed in the Parliament and becomes an Act, then Hindus will have to keep their mouth shut and always be at the mercy of Muslims and Christians so that they should never complain against any Hindu in any police station because then no proof is needed, no witness is required and they will be held guilty and sent to jail.

Awami League and Hindu Persecution

Can Bangladeshi Hindus depend on Awami League anymore?

A considerable section of the international community, not only in India or the other neighboring countries, but also in other parts of the world is busy in making merriment over the stunning triumph of progressive and secular forces in the land of Bangladesh. Truly, this is an epoch making victory and if someone considers, this will give rise to a new age of hope and brightness in the distraught county, he can’t be blamed. Well, the Hindu minority community of Bangladesh has also joined this elation and it hopes that the Awami League-led government will ensure a better life along with security to them. Here comes an important question. Can this ever be?

What has been the record of the Awami League in all these years and its relation with the Hindu community? Was it ever conscious to safeguard the Hindu interest or has it always used the far flung Hindus as mere pawns for a checkmate? These questions are coming to the fore since the Hindu population has come down to 9% from nearly 30% (1948) till date and on the word of dupes or victims there is hardly any difference between Awami League and ideologues of Jihadi fundamentalism in the country. It should also be noted, according to experiences, the mighty presence of Awami League helps perpetrators to hide religious persecutions on minorities, which go on relentlessly.

Are there strong evidences that can prove the culpability of this icon of Bangladeshi secularism? Let’s scrutinize facts and figures.

The ideologists of the Awami League were directly associated with the Muslim League that was responsible for the deadliest Great Calcutta Killing (1946) and in this episode the role of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of the nation of Bangladesh, was of a trusted lieutenant of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, then Chief Minister of undivided Bengal. It is alleged by several sections that Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy is the true founder of the Awami League (then Muslim Awami League). What an irony! The party, in order to exploit the (then) reigning politics in Pakistan, changed its stance and became Awami League in 1952.

The greatest achievement of the party in the later period was to spearhead the historic Language Movement in 1952 although the demand to make Bengali one of the official languages of Pakistan was first propounded by Dhirendra Nath Datta (1886-1971), MP from Coomilla on February 23, 1948 in the Pakistan Constituent Assembly in Karachi. However he was not even thanked by Awami League, at that time, as he was a Hindu.

Now let’s enter into the other acts of this glorious party. It was on 25 th-26 th March, 1971 when the Pakistani Army started its operations. This was done by means of ethnic cleansing of Hindus and Muslims but with the exclusive gangrapes of Hindu women. Nevertheless, the Awami League carders were seen in looting the affluent Hindu families. Don’t get amazed! There are others too!

In India, during the fateful India-Pakistan war of 1971 training camps were opened at Balurghat, Siliguri and Dehradun under the auspices of the Govt. of India for the training of Mujib Bahini. What did happen there? In Balurghat, 7 Hindu liberation fighters were bayoneted since they were found discussing that the liberation of Bangladesh would bring no liberation for Hindus. In Siliguri 7 Hindu youths were bayoneted since it was alleged that they dared to tease the daughter of Fazlul Haq. But the incident of Dehradun surpassed all. 16 Hindu boys were brutally murdered there since they had kept Bhagavad Gita in their pockets. The Govt. of India preferred to remain quiet or else any outburst would have derailed the movement harming India.

Now let’s concentrate on Ramna Kalibari. This ancient temple was desecrated and destroyed by the Pakistan Army on 25-26 March, ’71 resulting into the brutal murder of 200 Hindu devotes, if not more, alongside. But the following history is more painful. The Bangladesh government under Mujibur Rahman, refused to acknowledge the long standing demand of Hindu community (temple’s restoration) and destroyed the remaining portion of this property spreading over 26 acres. According to the latest ordinance, it is now Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy Park and the project completed without any compensation.

What has been the role Awami League regarding Vested Property Act (erstwhile Enemy Property Act)? It was reintroduced by the Awami League government and 1,62,000 acres of land was incorporated into this Act between 1972-75. We should remember that Vested Property Abolition Act was introduced in 2001 by Sheikh Hasina Wazed and the consequence is well-known.

Let’s focus on his illustrious daughter now. Is she better? There were lots of hopes but all have already been squashed. She is always a devout Muslim and then a Bangladeshi, according to her own revelations. This conviction made her denounce the Bangladeshi Hindus as people with twin allegiance. The Hindu minority leaders faced the same rhetoric when Hasina advised them to become Bangladeshi citizens first. What’s more she has been refuting the charges of Bangladeshi infiltration to India!

Have these nefarious designs been played only against the Hindus? Not at all! The Chakma community (Buddhist) has also faced the same effrontery. Manabendra Nath Larma, chief leader of the Chakma community and also the MP of CHT went to meet Mujibur Rahman (regarding CHT’S development). He was advised to become a Bengali, conversely. It is said that this brazen outlook made Mr. Larma initiate the armed struggle. Last but not least, Bangladesh joined OIC under the aegis of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The above-mentioned facts are tiniest specimens of the insensate and unabated minority persecution in the land of (alleged) Bengali nationalism under the covert and overt patronage of Awami League. There are, indeed, numerous stories of persecution that are undated and undocumented but continue with the same vigor.

Is a decent and a secured living of Bangladeshi Hindu community a bleak prospect? We think it is. Nevertheless, there is a greater reality. The greatest sin of Hindu community has been to confide in Awami League. It is, without doubt, a blasphemy.

Anushilan Samiti embodies martial Bengali Hindus

When the system fails, a power rises – this notion going on for centuries from immemorial past got evident in the early 20 th century with the appearance and meteoric rise of Anushilan Samiti, revolutionary society in Bengal to wrest freedom from iniquitous British Empire, following the clarion call of Swami Vivekananda to arise the nation in deep slumber. The organization, despite containing and led by Bengali Hindus, attracted Hindu youths, from the whole of then Indian subcontinent, having the conviction on policy of blood and iron altogether.

From the very beginning Anushilan Samiti had made its position clear through relying on the saga of national revolution (Rashtra Biplab). Thoughts, speeches and writings of Swami Vivekananda and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee influenced its founding leaders most. They included Pramatha Nath Mitra, Satish Chandra Basu, Arobiondo Ghosh, Jatindra Nath Banerjee and Surendra Nath Tagore and all these led to formal establishment of Anushilan Samiti on March 24, 1902 (Bangabda 1308, Chaitra 10). It is needless to say that the organization started as a bastion of physical exercises (Sharadapi) and changed into a revolutionary society bit by bit.

The expansion of Anushilan Samiti took place through formation of an assortment of akhada s (gymnasiums) in different parts of Calcutta and its outskirts. Some of these are Darjipara, Pataldanga, Grey St, khidirpur. Echara zilla te Shibpur, Salikha, Chandannagar, Srirampur, Tarakeshwar, Bali and Uttarpara. Establishment of Dhaka Anushilan Samiti and assignment of Pulin Behari Das in 1905 as its chief led to the further development of the organization.

Within a brief period, under leadership of Pulin Behari Das, no less than 600 branches of Samiti were formed and success of Bikrampur and Barishal, in this regard, was awe-inspiring. But Dhaka Conspiracy Case in 1910 leading to arrest of several of its key functionaries came up as a great stumbling block before Samiti’s further expansion. Getting alarmed of the fast expansion of Anushilan Samiti, then British Government formed a commission to look into causes, mode of expansions of rebellious activities in Bengal and ways to stamp it down. Report of this commission came to the fore in 1918 and it is known as Sedition Committee Report.

Nevertheless, planning of Anushilan Samiti, better known as Hindu-German conspiracy case in history, to overthrow British Raj in India, during World War I, and its failure made the government more furious and vindictive. Owing to rising governmental repressions and dearth of potent activists, several branches of Anushilan Samiti closed down for the moment while many others even ceased to exist.

The dynamic influence of Samiti on the Bengali Hindu society, as a result, started to decline and the gap was filled by mass organizations of Indian National Congress and Communist Party, new and enigmatic torch bearer of revolution. By 1930 the damage was done and from Anushilan Samiti, following rigorous imprisonments for years, lots of its erstwhile members got involved with other political factions. What is most striking is the denial of Government of India to accept these revolutionaries, who sacrificed everything for the country, as freedom fighters. After independence in 1947, a committee containing highly revered historians was formed, under instruction of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, to write a comprehensive and truthful history of India’s independence struggle. Dr. Tarachand was its president and two of its members were from Bengal – Dr. Ramesh Chandra Majumdar and Dr. Suren Sen.

In consequence of covert instruction of Jawaharlal Nehru and Congress, it is already proved, revolutionary struggle of Bengal was completely expunged. Dr. R.C. Majumdar, resigned from the committee in protest, stating -" As a historian, how can I ignore an established fact?" To confirm the nasty design of then leaders of India, he wrote “The History of Freedom Movement in India” that contains detailed facts of revolutionary struggle in Bengal to overthrow British Raj and contribution of Anushilan Samiti in particular.

Durga Puja signifies valor and power; persistent struggle to defeat injustice

Durga Puja, regarded as mainstay of Bengali Hindus across the globe, contrary to the general belief that it was started by Raja Krishna Chandra Roy of Nadia to celebrate British victory over Muslim force in the Battle of Plassey – 1757, was initiated in the mediaeval era to unify the then fragmented Hindu forces in Bengal against the Islamic tyranny including brutal Hindu persecution. And the person who did all these was none other than Raja Kangsha Narayan, undisputed supreme lord in Taherpur, District: Rajshahi. He is also known as Ballal Sen No. 2 for his astuteness, generosity and leadership to Hindus in history.

What would be the best answer if there is any question of its necessity then? If the history is explored properly it will be found that those were the darkest days in Bengal; kingdom under the auspices of its Islamic bosses was always ready to hound Hindus. And growingly persecution of Hindus under any pretext became a norm.

It was the rule of Hussein Shah and following the unfortunate downfall of Raja Ganesh, Hindus accepted the Islamic suzerainty. Moreover, the collapse of Kamtapur or last nail in the coffin made Muslims more joyous and Hindus more dejected. Only an apposite program of religious awareness (Dharma Jagaran) could be the best way to make Hindus virile once more. The role of Krittibas Ojha must be commemorated with veneration in this respect. The most momentous contribution of his to Bengali literature and culture has been the Bengali translation of Ramayana, one of the greatest Hindu epics. He is also responsible to render the notion of Akal Bodohon to the Bengali Hindu society.

Prior to the appearance of this theory, Durga Puja was celebrated in the month of Chaitra, first month in the national civil calendar of India, and it was known as Basanti Puja. But the historical endeavor of Raja Kangsha Narayan, conforming to the theory of Akal Bodhon, as propounded by Krittibas Ojha, led to the beginning of Durga Puja in the month of Sarat or Autumn. Akal Bodhon denotes the worship of Devi Durga by Sri Ram Chandra before the victory over and killing of Ravana, the demon king.

All these affirm that Durga Puja is related more to valor and power, essential to overpower and annihilate any form of injustice. This basic thought got more popular during the anti-British independence movement, especially among the revolutionaries in Bengal.

There can’t be any second or alternative thought to this and even if there is development of any such, it must be stamped out without delay.

Recognition of 10,000 madrasas in Bengal – menace for Hindus

Changes are natural in any parliamentary democratic scenario and in India, as perceived from experiences, there has never been any dearth of it. However, the case of West Bengal, prior to the last general assembly election, was different where owing to 34-years long Left rule changes had ceased to take place. The incumbent Trinamool Congress-led government usurping Left has come to gratify the discontented souls of Bengal and how it would be successful is a debatable issue. But if one is asked to apprehend counting on early indications, he/she has got to infer existing regime like the preceding one would remain apathetic to Hindus. And the reasons are not far to see.

Even if we let alone the issue of Deganga, notorious anti-Hindu carnage taking place in September, 2010 under aegis of a TMC (Trinamool Congress) MP, other fresh developments can’t be ignored. Recent annunciation of recognition of 10,000 madrasas (unrecognized hitherto) has created both dismay and fright among Hindus. Albeit political parties remain naïve, Hindus know well outcome of any such approach.

Literally the word madrasa refers to any Islamic institution generating two courses of study like hifz and alim. While hifz concentrates on teaching memorization of Qur’an, alim, in essence, deals with making an individual a scholar in the community. To cope with the changing reality and to make students professionally capable, technical subjects are also being introduced these days.

Whatever it is, it is alleged across the globe, madrasas are breeding ground of worldwide Islamic terrorism. There have been herculean efforts by Islamic scholars to negate this stigma but each nefarious act of Islamic terrorism stabilizes this castigation. How far impending 10,000 government-recognized madrasas would cast its shadow in the Bengal politics then?

Hindus have to ponder this since, if the reigning Chief Minister’s statement is conformed to, new recognized madrasas, under State Madrasa Education Board, can seek out central funds for upgradation. When the existing Congress-led UPA government is so generous to minorities, especially Muslims, any thought that it would dither to contribute funds is preposterous. More funds would make 10,000 government-recognized madrasas roar like 1 hundred thousand tigers.

As per studies, belief, following teachings in Qur’an and Hadis, imparted through madrasas to students can appall any sane human. What’s the best possible way for Hindus in Bengal to avert this impending crisis? Hindus in Bengal have to realize that Islam is basically a military philosophy devoid of religious tolerance and democratic thoughts. They must bear in mind that such dictum led to partition of India in 1947 and their sealing of fate once and for all. Dr. Ambedkar once stated that “Appeasement has no limits……….” [His Writings & Speeches, Vol. 8, page-270]. Many Hindus are also known to be best followers of such appeasement and strikingly, these persons are found to clamor for minorities, in particular Muslims, in political parties.

It is not known whether the government would be kind enough to go through said books and set up a commission to rectify its earlier decision to recognize 10,000 madrasas (unrecognized thus far). But Hindus can’t wait; they have to set up a barricade before any governmental approach.

Will Muslim terrorists liable for Mumbai attacks 2008 be penalized ever?

The name of Kasab (Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab), Muslim terrorist hailing from Pakistan and prime accused in Mumbai attacks 2008, doesn’t evoke any more emotion across India. And the reasons are not far to see. Indians are unanimous that Kasab should have been hanged to death (or killed in the firing squad) by now for harming sovereignty and national integrity of India through the said terrorist onslaught. But the government has failed them; the majority of Indians opines.

On the contrary, Indian government, always busy to project itself as the foremost adherent of legal philosophy, is making wholehearted efforts to render the culprit a lawful ambiance. Still Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, India’s prime target in the case, is beyond its reach and apparently Pakistan will go on juggling the lawsuit, without any end. India, it’s known to all, has sent uncounted dossiers on Mumbai attacks 2008 to Pakistan – there hasn’t been any substantial effect.

And while the India-Pakistan tete a tete on this continues, general Indians are getting despondent. Some are even found to castigate themselves for being citizens of such a soft state.

Now the question remains – when will terrorists linked to Mumbai attacks be finally penalized? Will it be ever? This is a grave question and nothing can be said at this juncture, if the India-Pakistan charade of Mumbai attacks is heeded.

According to the latest statement of Rehman Malik, Interior Minister of Pakistan, if India renders “substantive” and “actionable evidence” against so-called mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Pakistan will definitely act against him. "We had detained him (Saeed). The law does not go by statements but evidence. If we are provided actionable evidence, we will act against him," Malik said. What would Pakistan do if substantive and actionable evidences are sent to them by India remains to be seen.

No less than 166 people were killed and 300 left wounded in the 72-hour long Mumbai attacks in 2008. But people are apprehending something different now. Is the Indian governance trying to shed this horrific past? Government’s sluggish approaches make people think such.

Bangladesh squashes secular desires; finds solace in new pro-Islamic constitution

As part of stunning developments in the land of Bangladesh, reigning Awami League Government, brushing aside hopes of secularists of apposite restoration of Constitution of 1972 and thus strengthening chronicle of secularism in the country, has decided to retain “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” and Islam as State Religion in fresh amendment of Constitution. The news, without a shred of doubt, has come as a shattering blow to proponents of secularism in Bangladesh hoping for years a secular, fundamentalism-free country. It can certainly be said that this approach of Awami League Government has not only delighted and strengthened Islamic fundamentalists in Bangladesh but has terrified minority groups– on the way to oblivion, once more also.

It has also been learnt that the decision of the existing government, signifying a radical shift from secularism to a pro-Islamic constitution, has exasperated a substantial population of the country too. These include pro-democracy, secularist activists and moderate Muslim population, not to speak of the minority Hindu, Christian and Buddhist groups.

What are the next steps of the government then? In accordance with government sources, an amendment of the constitution will be brought rapidly to preserve Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim (in the name of Allah in the preamble of the constitution, most gracious, most merciful), freewheel policy to religious biased politicking and Islam as state religion. All these came to light only after the approval of the amendments of the constitution by a meeting of cabinet ministers chaired by Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina recently.

There were dissensions as well. Both Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Planning Minister AK Khandker opposed the proposal of keeping Islam as state religion vehemently. As indicated by the ministers, it will be in conflict with the constitution of 1972 ascertaining the state should be secular with equal rights to all citizens practicing other religions including Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity. When asked of ministers’ disagreements, Hasina remarked, “The committee report has been prepared in this regard on the basis of reality as there have been many changes in the past 40 years.”

Now let’s give a brief look into the Secular Constitution of 1972. The constitution stated clearly its guarantee to religious freedom and respect of all faiths and this was installed by none except Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman, father of present Prime Minister Hasina and also leader of Bangladesh’s struggle to Liberation from of Pakistan. Military juntas that ruled the country for 15 years furbished up the constitution, promoting Islamization of Bangladesh.

Think twice before courting a Muslim – it destroys a Hindu life only

Love is eternal, sanctified and regarded as one of the most noble attributes of humans from time immemorial. If the Hindu society is delved into, love is regarded here as one of the most essential aspects among an individual. Dharma also states categorically dearth of the same in any person would compel the society to ostracize him/her. Without a shred of doubt, all these are noble thoughts and hence, through centuries, there has never been any deficiency of love in Hindus, be it with the dearest ones or even with the dreadful enemies.

The question remains at the end of all these. What has been the benefit of Hindus after such benevolence through ages? They have been the worst sufferers of Islamic persecutions, if not more and are also looked upon as a conglomeration of insects that can be marauded, plundered and stamped out at anytime. Love Jihad, in full swing these days, enough to bewilder any Hindu youth, drag and finally convert him/her to Islam, is the latest manifestation of (ever) Aggressive Islam in India.

The saga of Love Jihad that started from Kerala, God’s own land, a few years back, is spreading like a wild fire across India. An assortment of such instances has been viewed, substantial number of these has been analyzed and just a few steps have been adopted to counter these, even if there has been a need of much more. Exposure of two following gruesome incidents would make reality easier. Islamic society and its views can be discerned easily from these.

Recently, fast track Court at Uluberia in Howrah District of Indian state of Bengal promulgated 12 years’ incarceration along with a fine of another three thousand rupees each for a ghastly murder of a House wife named Maududa Begum (25 years) by her husband Mustakin, mother-in-law Zubeda Begum, sister-in-law Pakeeza Begum and brother-in-law Sheikh Azizul, so far attempted on 29th February, 2008.

It has been learnt that Mustakin Sheikh got hitched with Maududa as his third wife on 26th August 2007 at Tehatt-Basudevpur in Howrah. Neighbors confirm that severe tortures of Mustakin made his past two wives escape and this was completely unknown to family of Maududa, a resident of Chengail near Uluberia. Notably, marriage of Mustakin and Maududa took place with a dowry of Rupees 50000 in cash and gold of 55 gms.

Mustakin’s rising demands and last of all, demand of 1 lakh rupees (as dowry) was becoming unbearable for Maududa's family. And its failure to gratify the demand made Maududa the worst victim. Finally, on 29th February, 2008 she was almost burnt alive by Mustakin, aided by his family members. Even if she was taken to SSKM Hospital, SSKM, Maududa died on March 4, 2008.

This is another incident that happened in Bangalore, IT capital of India at the moment. Poonam Rajput, 22-year-old lady from Delhi, was a passenger in an auto rickshaw along with her fiancé Rasheed on June 12, 2011. The vehicle collided with speeding BMTC bus in Yeshwantpur and as a result, Poonam gave in to her injuries.

As per police reports, they had ran off from Dehli and were staying in Yeshwantpur for four months. There is another twist to this. Rasheed, subsequent investigations proved, fled the scene with Poonam’s jewels following her admission to a hospital.

The above-mentioned incidents are not exceptions at all but are getting common almost in every nook of India. More and more such reports are coming to the fore and it can be you or your cousin or your friend – latest victim. Beware of all these and steer clear of idea of courting a Muslim individual ever – it will lead to the end of a Hindu life only. Don’t forget that “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty”.

Is Pakistan fortifying anti-India alliance through sending ancient relics to Sri Lanka?

A new gesture from Pakistan indeed! And this is said not without reason. Pakistan or the country infested with multifarious terrorist movements and also being regarded as cradle of worldwide Islamic terrorism has sent the most sanctified relics of Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka. As per Pakistan government’s versions, this is just a bid to present the richest Buddhist historical bequest to the people of Sri Lanka.

Relics arrived in Sri Lanka of late for a certain period and will be exhibited at Colombo Museum in the existing month. It has also been learnt that following the finale of the exhibition, relics will be taken back to Pakistan. The consecrated relics was received at the airport by Speaker to Sri Lanka Chamal Rajapaksa in conjunction with High Commissioner of Pakistan, Seema Ilahi Baloch, and an assortment of other officials. Dr Paul Bhatti, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Minorities Affairs and a high-level team of the Pakistan’s Archaeology Department brought these relics to Sri Lanka.

There is no doubt that these relics form important part of the archaeological heritage of Pakistan and also represent the rich Buddhist history in the country. Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka, introduced holy relics at Maligakanda Temple in Colombo for the public exposition.

It has also come to the knowledge that the exhibition in Colombo will put these high quality cultural assets from the Gandhara region of Pakistan including four sacred artifacts on show. The artifacts contain the collection of museums in both Peshawar and Taxila in Pakistan. There is also the presence of sacred tooth relics of Lord Buddha, Kanishka Relic Casket from Shah-Ji-Ki-Dheri, stone reliquary in stupa shape and Golden Casket.

But there are some other questions as well. Without doubt, if we look at the history, Buddhism has left a colossal and affluent legacy of art and architecture in modern-day Pakistan. Centuries have passed but Gandhara region continues to preserve its rich legacy for all. However, this was not noticeable for the rulers of Pakistan from its inception. On the contrary, Islamic hardliners were more interested to crush these artifacts, known as un-Islamic for them. Pakistani ruling class preferred to remain silent on these.

What is the main factor behind this abrupt bonhomie? Political analysts term this as a desperate act for Pakistan, feeling lonely in the global arena increasingly, especially after recent Osama episode. Sri Lanka, therefore, is one of its last hopes. Perhaps, through sending relics Pakistan is trying to fortify its desire for regional dominance and bid to encircle India.

Is India serious to end illegal Muslim infiltration from Bangladesh?

Illegal Muslim infiltration from Bangladesh to India has been a major concern for the Indian governance and unless apposite measures are adopted to call this bane a halt straight away, Indians will have to lament only. Such articles or news are no new to us and better to say, we have got acquainted to all these by now. But the question remains before us – what steps have been adopted by the State of India to stop it yet. The issue is no insignificant one but poses a grave threat to the national security and solidarity, at the same instant. Such intrusion is in full swing and as per demographic experts, if this population explosion goes unchecked its consequences can overwhelm perilous effects of any nuclear explosion even.

In accordance with sources, exponential illegal Muslim migration from Bangladesh to Indian Bengal took place during 1981-91 phase, utilizing strange silence of Left Front, ruling the state then. It is also alleged that a certain portion of then central governance supported this stand of lefts clandestinely. Let’s look into a few more pertinent reports.

According to reports (even the central intelligence agencies have not challenged these), no less than ten million Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators are in Bengal. Apart from this, 55 lakh infiltrators are in Assam, 4 lakh in Tripura and 5 lakh in Bihar (Katihar, Purnia and Kishenganj districts) and Jharkhand (Sahebganj district).

Here is a list of few worst-affected districts in Bengal. These are border districts like North and South Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, Nadia, Murshidabad, Malda and North and South 24 Parganas. Affected areas in the state of Assam are Dhubri, Goalpara, Karimganj and Hailakandi.

Kailashar, Sabrum, Udaipur and Belonia areas in the state of Tripura are also undergoing (similar) fast worsening situations. Don’t get stupefied to note that 115 assembly constituencies in Bengal are influenced by these infiltrators.

Who can be accused of cozening the country? Surely they include key members in the Indian governance along with an assortment of political parties. National media, from time to time, has castigated Indian governance for retaining a strange silence in this regard. Only one factor can be deduced. Since Muslims cast votes en masse conforming to dictates of their religious leaders, no party dares to exclude them.

A single question, if pertinent and also imperative, can be asked for thousand times. The same question is asked again – what governments have done to nip this perilous aggression from other side of the other border in bud. The answer is no and if pressurized, there is one and only answer – the government is keeping close watch on entire development. The answer fails to be a solace for any Indian, when law and order (in both border and interior districts of India) owing to rising infiltration has become a travesty. Indeed incompetence is ruling the roost in India!

Is Indian administration serious enough to defeat this nasty design? We have become skeptical of its sincerity, above all.
